You dont have to be a ima member to get a rare monster you just need to unlock one.

Once you've unlocked the monster, you can get one from CD's (for example, buying the first barn upgrade unlocks golems and baku's). With most monsters, if you haven't unlocked it you can't get it as a main type OR sub type. (i.e. you can't get a Rock Saurian (Zuum/Golem) until you unlock the golem).

Plus there are lists on various sites that show you what cd's you need to get the ultra rare monsters, just look around.
