ok so in Surface Tension after the part where the carrier drops of some of those big grunt guys and then the plane bombs the crap oput of them, you fight your way around a tank and a building, in the building you are suppose to kill two guards, make your way up stairs where there is supposed to be a guard there to open p the supply closet and then, later you need him to open up the next part of the level. Well after going past the tank and into the building, one of the two army guys apparantely went up and killed the guard. after going up myself, the guard was dead, i was confused next what to do. So i finally looked up a walkthrough whcih said this guy is crucial to move along.
Well.... with my luck i saved the game right after i saw him dead. And the autosaves on the file also saved after th guard was dead.
So i am screwed. I have no other save files and apparently a crucial dead guard. Is there anyway I can revive him, get past the part without him, or find some save point a little before this part?
please, any help would be appreciated.

u must kill the 2 army quickly before one of them kill the guard.

there is a window that somewhat overlooks the APC, or whatever vehicle it is. There is a ledge by this window that wraps around the building towards the ladder. I had the same problem. I thought I was screwed, but I found my way out.

If you can't find any other way, then you might have no choice but to cheat. Look up a video tutorial on how to unlock the console in Half Life, and use the console to enable Noclip, or whatever you find necessary.
But it doesn't seem like Valve to make one section of a level entirely dependent on one factor. If I've learned anything from playing Valve games, it's that they always make sure that there's more than one way, when it comes to things like needing a guard to open something, or a certain character to appear.
