Everytime I try to put -console onto my vampire.exe file it changes it from an application to a file and will not execute! Please give me a step by step on how to do this

I don't have the game, but to enable the console you load the game using the -console command. That sounds confusing... you do NOT rename your file to include the "-console" portion of the command line. Instead, create a shortcut to the vampire.exe file, (right click on the file using Explorer, then select "create shortcut"). Then edit the shortcut properties (right click on the shortcut, select "Properties"), and then under the target field, you should add the -console portion following the filename. Like this:
c:\directory\vampire.exe -console
hope this helps.

Hi! a friend of mine actually showed me how to do this, and it WORKS! In windows find "RUN" on the start menu. enter the entire path inside quotes. ie "C:\program files\vampire the masquerade - redemption\vampire.exe" then add (space) -console after the quotes and run it from there. Don't actually type in space, just add a space before the dash. I PROMISE it will work

guys please, is it so hard ?
just make a shortcut of your vampire.exe file..
go to that shortcut's properties and add after vampire.exe
'-console', leave a space between exe and - and then startup the game.. and then press ~ to bring up the console..
there ya go.. just try it. its not that hard

Nano, the problem with that is, some versions of windows don't recognize the file extension, and the program won't respond with a console. If you do it the way I listed in my last post, it works with every version.

The problem I'm having with the insertion of "-console" into the Target Parameter of the shortcut to Vampire.exe is that windows does not recognize the file extention and will not allow the shortcut to be created with such an extention. It claims it cannot find the file or extention. I've also tried the Windows>Run>Vampire.exe -console, and I get the same error message. Now, I had this working a few months ago....
"C:\Program Files\Vampire The Masquerade - Redemption\Vampire.exe -console"
That is where the file is located, and that is how it is being typed in... anyone want to help me out? Send better instructions or perhaps just a shortcut already created for that Target Parameter? Thanks!

YO! I'm back, and I've got the answer to why Windows has trouble recognizing or allowing the "-console" addition.
Here is the original target:
"C:\windows\program files\Vampire.exe"
Now, DO NOT add the -console INSIDE THE QUOTES. The quotes contain the direct source of the file and any additions that need to be made to the Target Parameter must be made outside the quotes. Try this:
"C:\windows\program files\Vampire.exe" -console
Hehe. Anyway, there you go. Hope it saves you the trouble it put me through.

Alright,Listen,It was alot of trouble for me too!I know how you guys who can't get the console up feel so here is one of the easy ways to do it.First go to the Run command in your start menu,Then put in your main Branch for your Vampire files,When you have it in the run bar after exe make a space then put -console then select Run.If you don't know what I mean then here is an example.
EXAMPLE:"C:\Program Files\Vampire The Masquerade Redemption\Vampire.exe(SPACE)-console.....
And that is basically all you do,Now when in the game press the ~ key and enter in one of the cheats and then press enter, and there you go you Stinkin Cheaters!:

Nope!

Can't get it at all. Many thanks for all of your advice and I have tried all of them but every time I try to open the game in the -console mode I get to the single player/multiplayer screen hit "~" and absolutely nothing happens. I mean nothing. You may sigh a despairing sigh but give the guy a carrot and if there is anyone out there that can actually lead me through this nightmare of a cheat system, please could you help me.
Give me a bit of credit I am a bit of an oldie and struggling at this!
Cheers:confused:
