In this topic, we learned that new members can be ignorant and stupid, while veterans (do I get to be a veteran now?) get pissed off at them. On topic though, despite my opinions on gay marriage, it's horrible that she wasn't allowed to see her before she died. I'd have probably flipped out if I was in the same situation. Terribly, terribly sad.

Open your mind - as that hospital should.
Maybe it's because I come from a fairly sexually-liberated country, but I find it utterly ridiculous that this issue even came up. They're married, therefore they are relatives. Even if the patient was currently unable to verify that, why wasn't the power of attorney enough?

I think that it's a ridiculous reason for you not to see the person you love in hospital. She was denied of seeing her partner before she died just because of her sexuality and I think that that's a very poor reason.

Anyways, i thought that although only 3 states allow gay marriage, they all have to recognise homosexual people who are married as being a couple? The whole "full faith an credit" thing? It's rediculous that she wasn't allowed to see her partner as she died because of her sexual orientation.

Wasn't right... but they had the right to refuse her.
She was legally veiwed as a companion to the deceased, not a significnt other.

The stupidest part?
America was the first country to legalize Gay marriages publicly.
Also, 20 years together and they refuse her on that?!
So, in summary, Another reason that America needs to clean itself up already, because if it's not racism, it's gayism or smo-hate or something of the like.
