Getting started
quote Redemption
Personally I believe the easiest way to get started is to browse the wikis to get a feel for them.
Learn the basic markup by clicking on the edit tags so you know some basic editing. This
page here on Naruto has some nice basic markup that you can check out to get an idea.
When you feel you are ready, find some small pages and see if there's anything you can help add to them. Or perhaps find a page that has some grammar or spelling errors that you can correct. You can find small pages using a special page called the "Short Pages". (Check out the Short Pages for
Metal Gear and
Smackdown). These special pages list all the pages from shortest to longest, and are a great place to start.
If you are more brave you can find "Wanted" pages. These are pages that other contributors or Wiki Staff have linked from other pages but have not been created yet. Try to do more than create a page with one short sentence - write as much as you can think of to create a healthy start to the page. If you can only remember 3 sentences that's already FAR BETTER than a placeholder like "New page." If you are going to do that I would suggest you don't bother since it prevents another person from coming along and creating a proper page. To see wanted pages, check out the
Wanted Pages for Zelda.
Another way you can help is to flesh out the
'hub' pages. We need linked lists of characters, missions, etc from those pages. In this way you can help build up the Wikis by generating "Wanted" pages.
Remember, every little bit helps to improve the Wikis! So if you aren't up yet to creating new pages try to help improve existing ones or even roam around finding small things to tweak.
Ask the Wiki Staff and Others for Help
Many Wiki Staff are experienced in editing portals, and are familiar with what we're looking for. Also, many of our members have experience editing Wikis and can help out with editing markup and other questions, so don't be afraid to ask! That's what the Best Practices and Help forum is here for

.
What to Contribute
Check the following pages for some other pages to work on.
- Short Pages
- Wanted Pages
- Lore on GoW / GoW2
- Walkthrough style guides
- Longer written pages are more highly desired. One sentence pages aren't what we are looking for.

Just a warning to members that if you haven't already played GOW2 the Wiki may already contain some spoilers. There are plenty of GOW1 related pages if you are worried about this, or just generally try to be cautious.
As with our other contests, all games are BRAND NEW sealed in their plastic shrink wrap.

It's quite annoying that most of these contests are about submiting to a neowiki about a game that you more than likely don't have because you're trying to win it.

All your edits are
recorded on the Wiki and all edits can be viewed in a list. So if there's 100 edits, someone can come through and view who edited what, what they changed and how much they added or removed from there. This includes the exact lettering and code which was added or removed.
For example, the
edit history for the main page of the Gears of War wiki allows you to compare history and edits between each version.

Many games o:. I guess it's much more easier to win the game here on neoseeker than making enough money to buy it xD. Neoseeker has been extremely generous this month xD

There's little to nothing to contribute, especially if you've never played either of the games.

Unity: this is far from true. You run the risk of spoilers if you have not played either game, but if you want to contribute there is PLENTY to do.
For someone who does not know the game:
Achievements
The Achievements page does not contain any of the icons for the Achievements.
http://gearsofwar.neoseeker.com/wiki/Gears_of_War_AchievementsThere are literally 50+ images to upload in there alone.
Missing Maps
The Maps page doesn't have overhead or map like images for all maps.
http://gearsofwar.neoseeker.com/wiki/MapsIt also has tons of text which is not linked to any pages.
Link to more pages from main page
There are many pages that could be added to the main page, perhaps organized to help people find which ones need more work.
http://gearsofwar.neoseeker.com/wiki/Main_Page
Images!
Many of the pages lack images. Many of the character pages only have an image cropped from a drawing, there are no ingame pics of almost all the characters.
Organisation
Many of the pages are just a dash of text. Using simple tags like bolding, splitting out info, and sorting it to look nice will greatly improve how the site looks. Even a short page like this one:
http://gta.neoseeker.com/wiki/The_Fastest_Boatcan look very clean and organized if done properly.
Link back and forward between pages
http://disgaea.neoseeker.com/wiki/Axes_(Disgaea_2)Notice how the team behind the Disgaea Wiki are interlinking pages, someone could do that. There's a LOT of organising that can be done.
For someone who knows the game
Take this page for example:
http://gearsofwar.neoseeker.com/wiki/Hammer_of_DawnIt is missing:
- An image of the weapon
- screenshots of the weapon in use (I can think of 3 totally distinct phases that could be captured in 3 screenshots)
- Perhaps descriptions of where it is found/used.
Bottom line: There is TONS that can be done on the Wiki
The bottom line is if you approach the whole wiki contests thinking there is nothing to contribute you are almost certainly wrong. Use your imagination, look at the other pages people are making on OTHER wikis (I suggest you look at Disgaea, GTA, PES for example) and see what kinds of things they HAVE done and that have NOT been done to Gears of War, Call of Duty, and Bond.
