well thats weird cuz I have had my red and blue since they came out and they have always had a saved file and they are fine. Same with yellow but i know its little bit "younger" then the others

Thanks for the info, just today I replaced the internal battery for my copy of Silver myself. It wouldn't save so I bought myself a new battery. The whole process isn't as hard as it seems. With a bit of pressure, you can easily remove the screw. The only difficult part is removing the old battery from the contacts without breaking them.

Like Twilight said... I couldn't get tweezers to do the job for lack of any that were thin enough without being frail, but with a little effort some needlenose pliers will get the job done.
After you get the bolt out I recommend replacing it with a straight or phillips screw so that you can access the game anytime... not to mention it would be a bitch getting the original bolt BACK in.
Also, just to be certain, since Yellow wasn't listed in the first post, does that mean it uses a standard CR1616 battery? It's definitely smaller than the RBGSC ones, but I just want to be sure before I buy anything.
