Look, I know this is sort of vague but on the way up to tal tal heights where you go through the mountains and stuff you can see a piece of heart in a room on the other side of the wall on the right, and an entry into that room on the left. I've tried going to what may be the exit of that room and placing bombs but i just can't get in! can anyone help?

You probably have figured it out by now, but just in case...
Head left from the hen house and use the hookshot to get across the broken bridge. Slash the bush at the end and go downstairs. There should be a part of the southern wall that you can blast apart.
