WTF. I am at the part right after where sephiroth blows Nibelheim up. What the hell is wrong with these people? Angeal is Evil, and might be dead, Genisis is evil and alive, and now Sephiroth is Evil and might be avlive. All went from the good side and were SOLDIER 1sts. Now when Zack and Cloud defeated sephiroth, they both fell on to the stairs, and then the doctor shut them in tanks of Mako! What the hell are the people in this game thinking???? Does anye else see that this is incredibly strange?<<<< DONT SPOIL ANYTHING FOR ME>>>>

...wow. It's really hard to answer that without spoiling. Have you played the original FF VII? You sound surprised that Sephiroth is evil....
Anyway, in his defense, Angeal isn't evil. He's just suffering, and thinks himself a monster. But he still believes in Zack and in honor, so I really don't think he's evil at all. And maybe there's a line to draw between evil and crazy.
All three of them were part of the same experiment (albeit, Sephiroth is from a different branch, but it's all still the Jenova project). It makes more sense when you think of it that way, because three firsts from completely different backgrounds all going evil at the same time would be a hard coincidence to get people to readily accept. The fact that they were all together in that, (but separate) gives a little bit of credibility to it.
So there you have it, to sum that up, it's all because they were specimens/victims of the Jenova project. It's like the realization of being adopted for a child blown way out of proportion. Learning you're not even human is a real blow to the psyche.

If it makes you feel any better, Angeal isn't evil. You helped him out by killing him. If you remember, he only wanted to kill you because he wanted to destroy everything that caused suffering, and he regarded himself as causing suffering.

Angeal isn't evil.
Genesis is (no longer) evil.
Sephiroth is the only one who stayed evil or was evil.

I have not played the original FF VII. And I am surpirised, because I thought he was good in this game. At the start of the game, I thought he was good, but then all this happened. Thanx for not spoiling.

Ah, No wonder considering your age you were a couple of years off when it came out. Is it weird playing this first before FVII? Well considering your reaction, yes. Apparently SE did a HORRID job at showing the transition of Sephiroth's character. I think it's so disjointed to first timers and even to me. It's like jumping from two extremes, though I guess finding out you're not human may cause this (?) I would think Sephiroth had this evil side within him all along because Angeal had a different reaction. He was humble in ways. So a little hint of Sephiroth's true self would've been nice.

well when FFVII came off i had about 5 years, and still i have know all alogn about this, but well, maybe the case was that he was buying a game and saw CC, so no harm done

man it is so weird to find someone that is a 100% "virgin" on FFVII mater, well at least on the gaming RPG side, but if you are enjoying the game is what it matters

I don't think there was anything wrong with it. Prior to Neibelheim, he began to change. He began to research in Midgar and then was prepared to take either path depending on what else he found out. Then in Neibelhiem he studied his existence for a long time, which was about 10 seconds in game time, and that was when the change happened, because that was when he discovered the truth.

EDIT:<<<<<<<<< POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!! >>>>>>>>>
Yeah that's true he "studied". But I'm talking about more personality wise. I guess I missed something. Angeal was a humble guy before realizing the truth and was a humble guy after. Sephrioth was easy going and nice before realizing the truth but a crazy narcissistic psychotic serial killer with a tinge of trouble socializing with others after (which is too extreme for me). Realizing the truth of ones existence doesn't create this suddenly out of thin air. I would've liked scenes that portrayed some of this before he learned something was up. Maybe there was hints and I missed it?

I thought they showed the snapping quite well. There are different kinds of descent into insanity. Some times it takes years, other times it can be instantaneous, or pretty close to it. You see Sephiroth in the beginning, and he's really nice and really cool. Even if he doesn't deserve some of the deifying from the media -_- Anyway, you do see him become a little more distant, but more or less, no big changes are shown until he really loses it. Just about all at once. The narcism and so on came from the research. He discovered that he himself was a different specie than human altogether, and that the humans as a race mistreated his kind and all deserved to die. Well, it's kind of how we don't treat any animals as equivelents, or how when people started colonizing North America, we removed the rites of the Native already living there (see Sephiroth as a Native). Something like that, so he kind of tore into that subject ten fold. He has been trained all his life to be a perfect fighter, so violence is a rather likely outlet...
A/N: I completely didn't mean to call Natives a different species. Sorry if it sounded that way.

Can't really classify them as evil.
I'd say 'deranged'.
Spehiroth isn't doing it to be evil.
But he's gone a bit mad and is doing it for his mommy.
Angeal is just caught up in things.
And Genesis is, well I don't know.
He's a goon.

I didn't really think Genesis had a justified motive. Most bad guys in FF games have a reason behind their actions. Genesis didn't really convince me. Sephiroths motive was developed well, of course

Sephiroth's motive was well developed, definately. Angeal being caught up in things is half right, he was suffering because he didn't have a motive. He believed himself a monster for the experiments done on him, and because of his wing. He clings to the idea that he must uphold his honor, and follow his dreams. In his opinion, the dreams of a monster are either world domination or revenge, and he follows suit accordingly, which I find kinda funny.
I don't know if Genesis' motive was convincing, but it was definately there. He believed that his parents betrayed him, and lied to him all his life (which they kinda did) and that was his justification for killing them. He was degrading, and blamed that on the scientists, and by extension: Shin-Ra, and the rest of the world (kinda, and doesn't really make much sense) and so that was his justification for attacking the company. ...Yeah, even trying to explain in a quick jab for pity, it still doesn't make much sense.
