I don't visit here as often as I would like...
I still play the game every now and then in my free time and recently began to LAN with it at school

I just began the orc campaign and my bro's not giving me the savegames said I have to play it to follow the story.
Oh since I'm here, I noticed I can't build frost wyverns in skirmish and Mplay games

ok, I know no one visits here much.. but here goes;
I just finished my hero's section for my guide, for the undead, it's still the first version... Lemme know what you think (if anyone reads this before I upload my guide online, which isn't for some time)
quote6.1 Undead
The three undead hero's are the Death knight, Dread lord and Lich king. The most useful is the dread lord, the least useful is the Lich king. The Death knight and the Dread lord are going to likely be the two hero's you use.
Dread Lord:
Get this hero first, either him or the death knight. The dread lords three spells are:
Carrion swarm, Sleep, Vampiric aura and Inferno.
Initially, you will want to take vampiric aura or sleep, sleep becomes useful in case you are getting attacked by a human players hero, you can case sleep on the hero while killing off all the other units. Vampiric aura lets your units receive health for dealing it.
Then you will want to take carrion swarm, a combination of carrion swarm and sleep or carrion swarm and vampiric aura does magnificently.
You'll then want to upgrade sleep, at least to level 2, so it costs less mana so you can cast carrion swarm more when you attack. If you took vampiric aura you will want to upgrade it to level 3 so it becomes of proper use.
You'll want to get 'Inferno' as soon as you can. Once you have inferno, carrion, sleep (and/or vampiric aura) Attacking an enemy base in a booming game will be very easy.
Before we talk about the attack, if you've taken carrion swarm and not vampiric aura, it would be better to get carrion swarm to level 3 before you start vampiric aura. That's my personal prefrence, when I have to choose between level 3 carrion swarm and level 1 vampiric aura I take level 3 carrion swarm, it's more useful to be focused in one spell then spread in two.
When you attack; First, you'll want to case sleep on your enemies hero (this prevents them from casting damaging spells like chain lightning, feral rage(which annoys more than it hurts), Elemental and storm for the humans and starburst(or stardust, whatever it's called) for the NE and it prevents an Undead hero from casting sleep on your hero, if you're fast enough). I suggest using the hotkey 'e' to cast sleep. Then, following the offensive strategies, Cast carrion swarm on the enemy units. Finally, if and when you've cleared out most enemy base defensive structures, bring down your inferno.
An alternate would be to cast sleep on your enemies hero's, then carrion swarm on some of the units, while simultaneously casting inferno. (again, I suggest you use the hotkey's 'e' and 'c' for slEep and Carrion swarm... not sure what the hothey for inferno is, it's not as neccesary as with sleep and carrion swarm.)
When defending with a dread lord, first cast down the inferno, and then sleep, and then use carrion swarm. The only exception being against another dread lord, cast sleep first and then bring your inferno down. Once you've your inferno and your army, and sleep is about to wear off (you should keep count, particularly if you're in normal speed. If your on fastest, get a sense of how long it takes. It's not neccesary, but if you're going to micromanage it helps). As soon as it's about to wear off, surround the hero with your own units, cast carrion swarm on him and tell all your units to attack him. That should make no work of him, the earlier you kill the hero the better, as it means any of your own units lost won't give him experience.
Death knight:
his three spells are: death coil, Death pact, Unholy aura and Animate dead.
You won't need the death pact, it's basically sacrificing a unit for the death knights own health and isn't worth the 'sacrifice'.
The death knight is most useful for rushing. He's also useful to get once you're Dread Lord is level 4 or 5, to support and heal your dread lord.
The first spell to get is Death coil, it heals and damages and so is the most useful early in the game.
Then get the unholy aura, both level 1. Then equally, in whatever order you want keep improving his Death coil and his aura untill you can get animate dead. Once you've got animate dead, finish death could first, then the aura.
You should be using him more as a supportive hero than an offensive hero, use him to heal units and stand at the very back.
If you're using him with the dread lord, use the death coil to break the sleep spell on enemy hero's then cast carrion swarm on them...
Use death coil on units with very low health remaining, to finish them off, allowing your units to attack another unit.
When defending with the death knight, use death coil against hero's and to heal units.
In both, defending and attacking with your hero Animate dead AFTER the battle and use the 6 units brought back to life to:
1) weaken your enemies next army, if you know where they are or are lucky enough to find them, send them in kamikazi to die but at least weaken a unit or two.. NOT KILL the unit, but just weaken it, if you kill the unit your enemy will likely get another one. But if you weaken it, you may be able to either weaken enough units they can't all be healed or you may be able to get your army to them and kill them before they get a chance to be healed.
2) To attack your enemies base, it's very nerve wreaking when your enemy manages to attack you using units that were once yours. Despite what anyone will say, when playing against the undead, it's annoying to have orc units rushing into your base.
3) If the death knight is with the dreadlord, then amass a complete and proper attack: 2 hero's, 6 animated dead, the inferno, and your nice little army. (the extra 7 units help a lot, even if you don't realize it, but an army of 6 extra not-undead units with an undead army and an inferno is a lot of extra units)
Do second particularly when you're defending, send the hero in at the end, animate the dead and then send them right back at your enemy base.
Lich King:
I don't use him, I've never used him except in the campaign and I don't really plan on using him ever in a custom or LAN game.
If you have (or want) a strategy for the lich king, you could email me with one or asking for one and I would gladly add your strategy with proper credits.
6.2 General
Do not attack before you're hero is level 6. Attack your enemies armies, but not his base. His gold mines but NEVER his base, not unless you're rushing. In a booming game, any decent strategy player will make mince meat out of any hero less than level 6.
NEVER, and I cannot stress this enough, EVER EVER train 3 hero's. It is just impossible to utilize three hero's, you'll end up doing less ATTEMPTING to controll 3 than using 2. The only exception to this is in a game which has gone on for far too long and both your 2 main hero's are level 10 and you keep attacking your enemy and get no where. In which case, training a third hero is likely an option.
ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS keep a teleport back to town scroll in your heros inventory. Keep it on either the bottom left corner or top left corner of his inventory. Having a hero die is a pain, since it takes so long to get him back. What you do is keep your hero in battle, if his health gets real low then teleport him back USING THE HOTKEY'S. It takes TOO much time to scroll the map to your base, clicking on the scroll and then on a town center. What you do is first manage the battle, when you're hero's down to a quarter of his healt, press 'backspace'. This centers on your first town center, press 'backspace' again to choose which towncenter you want, do this quickly. Press '7' on the numpad (if the scroll is in the top left of the inventory, press '1' if it's in the bottom left of the inventory) and click on the towncenter.
Let me say that again, this time so you get how paced it should be... look at your hero's health bar, down to 1/4 his max health, then press back space, press 7(or 1), then click on the town center before he dies. This as opposed to, look at his health, see it getting low. Scroll the map to your towncenter, see his health decrease even more, panick, forget where the scroll was and lose your hero or manage to teleport him back with only 7 health.
If you teleport you hero back to your base, before your next attack buy another scroll, it's always cheaper than having to get him back. A friend of mine buys 2 scrolls at a time before an attack and 2 healing potions. Drops the potions and the scroll in his base and keeps one scroll with him. Picks up his other artifacts, and attacks. When he teleports his hero back he already has some units waiting for him, use the potions, pick up the second scroll and press a second attack. ALWAYS, ALWAYS keep a teleport scroll.
If you're hero has an empty slot or two, then on your way to attack buy an extra scroll for healing or mana restore or a scroll for increasing your armies armor or something, fill up those empty inventory slots.
That's about all, if you feel I've forgot something let me know. I'll add your strategies and give you proper credits for them. Hoping on adding the orcs in the next version of this guide, Enjoy!
Ignore the spelling mistakes for now, I'm working on time and strategy, spelling later
