I also made a thread like the in the BF2-forum and there's a similar one in the HLČ-forum and all of them turned out to be a great success. Basically the point of this thread is to avoid numerous "Can my PC run this game?"-threads.

Simply compare your PC to the things posted here, and feel free to ask questions if needed

I may have forgotten a few things, in case you know something, please send me a PM
PM Hitman3

I'll ask a mod to sticky this...
EDIT: Thanks Scarchelli

An NVidia GeForce 4 MX 440 will work, your settings are most likely going to be a mix of low and some settings turned off at 800x600.

I'm going to need more details on your PC. Go to Start>Run and type in DXdiag, please post your Processor, Memory and DirectX version. Then click the "Display tab" and post the name of your video card and its "Approx. Total Memory:".

Go to callofduty.com and download the official COD2 demo if you want to see how your PC runs the game. If the demo runs fine, the retail version of the game will run fine.

so u say i only have to play the demo to see if it will work or not?

Pretty much, if the demo runs then your game will run. If the demo runs with high graphics then the game will run with high graphics when\if you buy it.

Demos are released to show people what the game is about, and for the PC demos also show how your computer will run the game.

actually...i thought that was the case too. i ran training session and russian campaign fairly well with settings mainly on high. then the british campaign started and i had to lower the resolution as well as the lighting/texture settings. i'm thinking it's because of the larger scaled maps. i'm running an amd fx 3500..nvidia 6800..with 1 gig or ram. should i up my mem to fix this prob? i can play bf 2 without any problems at all. im kinda stumped on a quick fix for this.

I have ant ATI Radeon Xpress 200 and it is utter carp. I H8 it. Is this why the performance on COD2 is so slow?

Most likely, what are the specs of the rest of your computer? Also, make sure you have the latest drivers from ati.com

Hi, i bought this game the day it came out. I put it on my old PC, which had:

AMD Athlon 64 3.2GHz CPU
K8V-SE Duluxe Mobo
1Gb DDRPC3200 (400)
ATi Radeon 9800XT 256Mb

I could only run it on medium settings but on 800x600! I was gutted. I knew it was time to update my PC. So i sold all my old parts and started a fresh. Built a brand new PC which has this spec:

AMD Athlon 64 4GHz+ CPU
AT8 XFire Mobo
ATi Radeon x1900XTX 512MB Sapphire
2Gb DDR PC3200 (400) (4x512MB's)

I play it on maximum setting and i can't believe how good the graphics are. It's better than the 360 version which i also have. The lighting is the best i've seen yet in any game (yes including F.E.A.R / Far Cry and Oblivion). And it runs smooth online.

I assume you mean an AMD Athlon64 4000+? It doesn't actually run on 4Ghz but it's the equivelant of a 4Ghz Pentium 4
Either way, nice setup.

I now have this:
  • AMD Athlon64 3200+ Venice core @ 2.01Ghz (stock)
  • 1.5 gigs PC2700RAM (actually 1 PC3200 stick and 1 PC2700, but RAM always runs at the speed of the slowest stick)
  • MSI NX7600GT (stock 7600 GT model) @ 600/800 from 560/700

Runs the singleplayer fine at 1280x1024, maxed out with 4xAA and antriscopic filtering enabled (I believe it's at 8x when enabled through CoD2 itself) and I run the singleplayer at the same settings but without the AA.
