Uhhh, isnt there game sharing on that game? If there is, be sure ur close enough to ur friend that it goes thru. Thats all i know

jus goto GAMESHARING in the xmb of your friend,
and go to the Gamesharing feature in Multiplayer. there are options whether to race your friend of share the demo.
as i remember ie...
