My friend just got Saints Row 1 for the 360 and i played it today for the first time today. We would play GTA San Andreas and think it was the best but now we think Saints Row is better. What do YOU think?

P.S. Who killed CJ's mom?

A man in a Green Sabre is the answer to your question.

As for SR vs. GTA SA, GTA SA owns SR. SR2...now that absolutely kills GTA as a whole

Really ? I've never played it.

As for the question i think GTA:SA is better than Saints Row but i prefer the concept of Saints Row compared to GTA IV because of the ghetto/gang theme.

I would highly recommend Saint's Row 2. Go out and buy it immediately. Co-op, a plethora of missions. A HUGE amount of activities. A ton of weapons and guns. A HUGE AMOUNT of Customization.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I found that Saints Row 2 was nothing more than a sort of expansion on Saints Row. There was nothing that was really new, just advancements on what was already there. The main characters were also quite hard to like. To be honest, I got bored of it after I finished the main story missions. GTA SA however, managed to keep me entertained for 3+ years. I've never spent as much time on anything as I did with San Andreas. Just have a look at the Neoseeker forums. San An was hugely active for at least 2 years after it came out, whereas Saints Row 2 was dead just 6 months after its release.

But don't forget, San Andreas was on the most popular system of all time, the PS2. Everyone and his or her mother has one of them.

Saint's 2 was on two completely newer systems, with very little advertising, along with a completely unknown name. Grand Theft Auto is known everywhere, Saint's Row, not so much.

I've heard enough about Saints Row 2 to list it as one of the most popular Xbox 360 games of 2008. The SR2 forum was semi-active more than 12 months ago with the anticipation of its release. I would hardly say that it's "a completely unknown game".

That's what most same-gen sequels are, an expansion on what was previously brought to the table. What was Vice City to GTA III? A "bigger and badder" GTA III. San Andreas, was also an expansion of Vice City. This is to be expected.

Except Vice City brought in new characters, new missions, new everything. It felt different. What was new in SR2? A few guns? They removed a bridge? In my opinion, SR2 felt exactly the same as SR1. Instead of being something new, it was just more of the same stuff.

TBH, I tend to agree with The Son of Man there, I found SR2 fun in the short term, but it had nowhere near the immersion that SA or even GTAIV had. The characters were too cheesy, and very hard to get a feeling for. Meanwhile, GTA:SA felt like a huge world to explore with its own mythos. Remember the tales of bigfoot, and the hours wasted away spent roaming around the forests and deserts? GTAIV did this in a different way, by drawing you into a storyline and giving your actions a sense of weight.

I see what you are saying, and I can't completely refute your point, because it makes sense. The thing is, however, that Volition added so much gameplay, a wealth of customizing, unbelievably well developed flight, and such a vast plethora of side missions (and yes a lot of new characters too) that I didn't at all mind that we were in the same city using basically the same main character, and continuing the story began in SR. To be honest, I have gone through this game from 0% to 100% three full times including ALL the diversions that do not count toward 100% and all the vehicle unlocks, and you know what? I am not bored of it at all. The same way I am not bored of III, VC, and SA.

GTA IV, on the other hand, I was bored of after less than halfway through the game, in other words one play through.
