Has anyone else noticed that...

When you play through the game again you really notice that he says "would you kindly" so much. But on your first play through, it doesn't even occur to you that he says it a lot? Pretty good subliminal messaging haha

Haha, yeah, I agree totally.

Even the little things like the words "Would you kindly" written on the package you open on the plane at the start seems so normal. It's incredible how often the words appear, yet you just don't notice.

The one instance of "Would you Kindly..." which did seem out of place, was when you Kill Andrew Ryan and Atlas screams something like "would you kindly put that key in the machine" or whatever it is he says.

EDIT:

Shut up.

I'm doing about 90 things at once at about 90 miles an hour:

I noticed all that too.

I never remember him once saying it the first time through, but now on my second run, it's all he ever says.

Might need to fix your tags there.

I think there is good reason for that.

By that point, Ryan has already revealed the power of the words "Would you kindly" to you, so the words would stand out far more. Furthermore, Atlas/Fontaine has no more need for subtlety at that point. His mind control forces you to comply at the sound of the words anyway, and as he's so close to attaining his goal, he cares not of potential suspicion, as he thinks it'll all be over soon.

Atlas doesn't reveal that he is Fontaine until the moment after you cancel the self destruct sequence. He says "would you kindly stick that key in the machine" before you put the key in the machine (obviously)

The thing is, though, why didn't he force you to get killed? He just sent the security bots after you, he never says "would you knidly stand still?" etc.

Later on, after you leave Tenenbaum's Stronghold, he says "Would you kindly go get stepped on by a Big Daddy?

Of course, Tenenbaum had stopped Fontaine's mind control

I know, I know. But still, why didn't he get you when he had the chance? Oh well. Maybe he's just stupid.

Spoiler: Atlas. Again.

Perhaps he didn't think Tenenbaum would have known how to cancel out his mind control?

Well yeah.

Oh well. Bioshock still rules, even if Atlas makes little sense. But he did a damn good job of... well... you know...

And the only time I thought back and noticed it was him saying "Would you kindly lower that weapon for a minute?". On my second play through I'm trying to see there's any instance where I can not do what he kindly asks me to.
:D

There's one in Fort Frolic.

He simply tells you to take the Bathysphere to the next zone.

You don't have to.

You can go back to Neptune's Bounty.
