The countdown clock says there are 17 days left for NA until Wii but today is Nov. 1st so wouldn't that make it 18 days left?

The clock has always and will always note the difference in time between this moment and midnight of (the start of) November 19th (+accompanying offset days for other regions) for your timezone according to your system clock.

I suggest we ban the next person who makes a PS3, 360 vs Wii thread.
So the clock will go off at midnight tonight? What if we won't be on till the next day?

There are two states to that banner; pre-midnight and post-midnight. Nothing actually happens on the transition itself; it will just change dynamically at that point. If you want to see it early just open up your system clock quickly and change it. :/
