A longer one from the normal is a must really, then maybe one which... Actually, I really don't know. Must be tough for the designers. I can't think of anything really. And now it's much more important to the game.

How do
you know how long the grapple beam will be when you start? Demos can't be relied upon, seeing as the game has been delayed for changes, unless your going by the previous games, which can't be very accurate...
As for the multi grapple thing, I guess it could work like the multi rocket from Prime 1. So that's a pretty good idea.

Unfortunately I am going off past games. I don't pretend to know the details of the new game as fact, although maybe the way I put it across made it sound as such.
Would be annoying if they shortened the length though just to have a length upgrade. =/
Then again it would depend on how long an upgrade was given, so it could work depending on how they pull it off.

it kind of looks like the grapple beam is more versitile in MP3. If we can use it to throw enemies around and possibly grab various small objects as well that would be nice

Actually that was prime 2, multi grapple beam would so pwn. Just grab 5 enemies and toss them against the wall or do other unimaginitive stuff.

It would be awesome if you could summon your ship using the command visor, then grapple onto it, allowing you to fly through the air and blast stuff on the ground.

One trailer shows Samus sliding down a long pipe in the air using the grapple beam.
Do you guys think this will be allowed through an upgrade, or is this just a thing the regular grapple beam can do?

Probably an upgrade, much like the Spider Ball expansion of the Morph Ball ability.
