I think we an assume Ness is returning, as well as at least someone from the Fire Emblem series, which leaves three empty slots, assuming G&W and Ice Climbers are out. Then again, it should be possible to there to be additional icons after 18, so who knows how many.

Peach better be back.
I wonder if anyone other then Wario from the Mario series will make the cut? Is the "W" logo from WarioWare? We might be seeing another playable from there. Or at least an Assist Trophy.

This doesn't neccesarily mean there will be a character in it, though. It's just the series that the stage is from.

But, Smashville has an Animal Crossing Logo associated with it, so it has to be in that list as #15.

@Akira: Good point, but if the title is named: "Atleast 17
character series for Brawl" the logo must have a character before it counts.
@Gregory: I realized my mistake, but if there's 5 left... it will be Solid Snake logo,Fire Emblem sword,Ice Climber tomato and Ness Earth and G&W logo.. So there's still a chance that Sonic won't appear in Brawl since all the spots are taken (if all the characters from Melee return) its a 50/50 for Sonic now.

Name one stage in melee that came from a character's game but the character didn't make the cut.
