I was wondering what anyone thought about the fact that Capcom situated RE5 in Africa, and it appears that most of the zombies are black. Does anyone think it's racism? Also, controversies have popped up on random web info sites, so it may be worth discussing here.

This has been discussed thousands of times, literally. This is not a racist game. Its only racist if you make it racist. Don't look at the guys as black people but look at them as people with *bleep*ing parasites in them and they're trying to kill you!

I personally don't think the game is racist, but I was just wondering if anyone else did. I agree with seanic, the people that the player shoots isnt based on race, its based on where the game is set.

If Capcom had of made a game, set in Africa, with all white people, the black community would still be calling them racist. I have nothing against blacks, even whites do it, but if people have nothing to start an argument over they will find somthing to argue about

well in re 4 you have to kill mexicans, Now in re5 you have to kill blacks, Also I heard a rumor that Re6 is set in Tokyo and you have to kill asian ppl, I just wish we could go back to killing zombies. why must capcom create so much hate?

Video game companies don't create hate. People create the hate. Take GTA series for example, each game (most) has somone from a different nationality in each one, yet there is always somone to complain about each game. " there a white man killing blacks and mexicans" "there's a black man killing whites" " there's a pissed off russian killing everyone"

I'm white, I don't find it in any way offensive that in the majority of games (including the previous Resident Evil games) white people have been the ones being killed, nor do I see it as offensive that in this game the people being killed are predominantly black — simply because Resident Evil 5 is set in a country where the majority of the population is black.
You know I'm with you on that notion Pyramid, but can you (and everyone else who posts in this thread) keep a lid on any thing that may be offensive. Tact isn't a trait all of us have in abundance, and if you feel you don't, and feel strongly about his topic, I recommend that you do not post here, or that you think long and hard and come up with a well-structured, constructive comment.

I hope this isn't offensive, supreme, but my opinion (and I stated in the other racism thread a while back) is that certain African American activist groups will just compaign against the dumbest things, shouting "racism" and speaking blasphemy when it isn't justified at all.
The game is set in Africa, so ofcourse black people will be in the game. There's nothing else to it. Hell, didn't Capcom sprinkle in other nationalities just to appease these people? That wasn't even necessary, but they obliged anyways.
I mean, lets be real here. The "racism" claims made by folks about this game are all a result of the slavery that happened hundred of years ago in this country.
