Subject: Is Vic Vance really dead?
-------------------------------------------
I heard in the opening scene of Vice City, Vic Vance dies in the police raid as drugs are being dealt. I was interested and so I dusted off Vice City and stuck it in the PS2, watched the opening scene, but didn't see Vic. Anywhere. I am assuming that Vic was the guy who had the briefcase and told Tommy that he had a deal, and if that was Vic, then;
A. It looked NOTHING like him
B. Even if it was him, why did he look so old? There were only 2 years between Vice City and Vice City stories, and finally;
C. Why was his voice different in the two versions of the game?
I am curious now, can someone clear this up? Sadly I can't find a picture of GTA Vice City 1's version of Vic.This message was edited by Zero Tolerance on Mar 14 2007.

Some people say it is Peter Vance that dies

From wikipedia:
quoteVictor Vance
Introduced/Killed in: Introduction, botched drug deal cut scene
Victor Vance is Lance Vance's elder brother and head of the two-member Vance crime family (alongside Lance), who is killed in the beginning of the game, along with Vercetti's escorts Harry and Lee, as he engages in a drug transaction with Vercetti.
Unusually, despite assuming an African-American appearance like Lance, Victor speaks in an Latin accent (Victor speaks in a more Afican-American accent in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories). This is related to a retcon from Vice City Stories that suggests the Vance brother's father was from the Dominican Republic, while the brothers spend most of their time there following their experiences in Vice City Stories.

Interesting how they look so different. In Vice City (the original) Vic has hair and a 'tash and looks older but in VCS he is bald and fresh faced, even though there is so little time period before the two character models.

Actually it's only 2 years, since Vice City Stories is set in 84 and Vice City is set in 86
Anyway, since we don't know what Pete Vance looks like, we can only guess who dies in Vice City (hopefully R* will tell us in IV).

I doubt that is Vic Vance in the picture, I mean did Lance ever mention Vics name in the story missions of VC1?

Since when did it take 2 years to grow a mustache?
IMO they don't look that different

Okay, but what about the completely different accent when he speaks?

Meh I just find GTA history fascinating and I like it when all the pieces of the puzzle have been put together.

I find it a bit weird that Rockstar would have Vic Vance as the guy you play as in GTA: VCS when, if you look at the opening cutscene (which I didn't the first time round), Vic dies and we already know that when playing VCS... something like that. It'd be like playing as CJ's dad in San Andreas Stories (are R* making that?) because CJ's dad is dead at the start of the original SA.

IMO the Vic Vance from vice city('86) and the one from vice city stories('84) look too different, Lance doesn't even mention him in Vice city. In Liberty City Stories there was almost no difference between the toni Cipriani from LCS and the one from GTAIII.
