In some cases you actually have better hardware than I. You might want to go to dell.com or the site of your computer's manufacturer...I believe they will allow you to change operating systems via the internet for free. Just a suggestion; you might want to keep XP for all I know.

The game runs fine on my system. But I cannot load any of my saved games.

I saw this question before, but I never saw any answers. I've tried it after 6 different missions. But when I try to load it, the game pauses and stops.

Anything?

Thanks,
Rob D

I don't know if this is the right thread so if not please tell me where I need to go. I have a laptop and was wondering if it will run on it. I hear that it was not running well on laptops. I have a Dell Inspiron 4100 with a Pentium III and running XP. Thank you in advance.
Well I heard that someone who was having problems running it on his laptop called Rockstar Technical help and they said something about not being able to run on laptops.
Yeah that would be me! LOL
OKay well I got it to run on my laptop, although Rockstar "doesn't guarantee" performance on Laptops. (whatever)
My suggestion would be that you treat ANY glitches you come across in the game the same way you would treat a
"lower end" PC and HOPEFULLY this will solve the problem.

In my case, I spent the day, last week, downloading patched, reconfiguring video drivers, installing patches, updating drivers and things like that. It was a nightmare.

I think that it is safe to say that while the graphics have been improved somewhat significantly, that unless you are running a monster machine you will probably have some problems to varying degree. I really am not yet convinced that this particular game was either well suited to conversion to PC or was platformed well. Whatever the case, I predicted, when the original stats came out (remember all of those minimum specs versus recommended???) that there would be problems with computers anywhere NEAR these levels and I think that has been proven true.

My office computer, which exeeds the recommended specs, will simply NOT run this game properly. I will put in a new Video card as I believe that to be the major problem.

My home machine runs the best though it is the "intermediate" machine as far as specs go.

My advice is this: listen to the people in this forum who have provided a wealth of links and tips. Also do this:

As annoying as it is, Hit "Ctrl-alt-del" and close EVERYTHING (YES YOU GUESSED IT-ONE PROGRAM AT A TIME!!!!!)except for Systray and Explorer. It is a VERY time consuming process but it will help, especially if you are running resource hogs like anything by Norton!

Basically you will be disabling ALL programs running in the backround! AND remember to rebot before going on the internet ESPECIALLY or your system will be vulnerable and without all it's normal security! This is incredibly annoying and I would have hoped Rockstar wouldn't have made this necessary, but oh well. Oh and in case you are wondering that was (cough cough) the $&$^$&*#%@$ advice that a person on their tech support gave me, which I had pretty much figured out for myself anyway but was REALLY hoping to be able to avoid! Basically it means that you have to reboot your computer every time you want to use other apps before or after you play this game! nice huh?

Damn Chiro, you always got something L O N G to say.

Maybe when I play next I'll close all running things and if that doesn't working I'm gunna kick the damn game out the window!

LOL!!!! KFC, I know dude!
I don't mean to! I start out with a thought and it just ALL spills out. Oh well :-)

Anyway any luck? Have you called their Tech support? I think it really SUCKS that SO MANY people are having problems with system configurations that ROCKSTAR clearly said would work fine!

Nah, I've never called any technical supports for anything because everything they tell you is bullshit and never works.

DLL stands for Dynamic Link Library. It includes a lot of functions used by Windows applications. It's referred by an application when you run the app. The main purpose is to decrease the file size of applications. One DLL file is referred by a lot of apps and provide some functions to them.
