I really didn't understand where the rose came from either. It goes against his, suppose to be, villainous character. Eh, I guess the developers wanted to try something new.

I agree...WTF?!
I thought it was a PLUNGER at first! but only Mario & Luigi are plumbers, so it didn't make sense.
I think they're trying to making into a cool, ladies man or somethin'...
Or maybe he's lonely and wants attention...
