This is just something I've just been thinking of;
Neowiki contributors and Neowiki staff get tags, so would it be possible for Gamegrep contributors get tags too ?
Gamegrep is an "external" part of Neoseeker, much like the portals, and so it would be an idea for members who contribute to Gamegrep to be able to receive tags, much like the people who contribute to the Neowiki's.
It could work in a few ways;
- Members receive tags for earning a certain amount of points on Gamegrep each week, much like how Neowiki contributors get their tags ( If my understanding of how that system works is correct ).
- Only members in the top contributors lists would receive tags.
- Gamegrep approvers and moderators would also receive tags, like how the Neowiki staff tags work.
I'm sure the Gamegrep regulars would like the chance to show their devotion to the site too.
As for the approvers gaining tags, it would save members having to follow several links to discover the list if they already know how the approvers and moderators are via posting on Neoseeker.
It's just an idea

I totally agree. I've always wanted a nice shiny tag under my name. A catchy color to for contributers/approvers/mods.

It would be nice that it would get more people on GameGrep, but again we'd see abuse like how some people abused the Wiki tags. I'm halfway on this one, I guess I support.
It would look nice to have another tag though. |D
LPF: I wouldn't think so, because there a members that used to contribute a lot and are up there, and don't do it anymore. I don't think all time. Maybe if there could be a weekly list, that'd be much better.

Ah well that's why we wanted some feedback to get a better idea on where to head.
It would be nice to have it like how the NeoWikis work since GameGrep is just as important and deserving.
All GameGrep Moderators and Approvers deserve the right to a tag under their name, I think, to represent how hard they work for us Neoseeker members.
As for members getting a short-term tag for the NeoWikis after X amount of edits, it's obvious that did a lot for their popularity. GameGrep takes more effort and time so it's not going to cause an influx of noobs or tag hunters, but after a certain amount of articles and/or points it would be nice for those contributors to also get recognised with a temp tag.
Finally I come to top contributors of all time. Some of them are approval people and whatnot, while others do enough for the temp tag. Therefore I don't think they should get a permanent tag for sitting there, it needs to be for continuing to be great and contributive.
I was really excited by this idea when Cruxis Mana and myself discussed it a little. I know contributing to your fav games and increasing your GameGrep points tally is rewarding, but I also think something a little extra to reward those really deserving contributors and helpers would certainly be a good implementation.
My thoughts anyway.

If the tags are obtained on a points per day/week/month basis then anyone would be able to get them, so long as they contributed, in a helpful way, to Gamegrep. This sort of ties in with what I said above about the moderators and approvers having to be up their game.

Im sorry, but I don't really support this. You should want to contribute to the site cause you want to, not for the tag which more noobs and tools would spam gamegrep. I mean honestly page 8 has new 2 days old news that I missed. I mean what the hell!! How much more traffic does this site need?
Anyway I don't like this. Gamegrep isn't like NeoWiki's I don't see a real need or purpose in having more tags for it.

I'm a little on the fence on this one. I could see this being a boost, but at the same time how would it work? Forum/section mods and wiki contributors/staff have links under their name designating which area(s) they work on. With GameGrep, it's an all in one deal. All approvers have access to all the approval tools in all the areas where they can be used. Likewise, all the mods have all the moderator tools to deal with any issue on GG regardless, so would it be just a link to GameGrep underneath the proposed tag?

I agree with Avalith, I mean the tag actually has purpose that shows powers. The tag for gamegrep for members will not have any powers at all. Its a little weak idea tbh.

Like you have "Wiki Staff" you could have "GameGrep Staff" and have it link to the home page of GameGrep.

Were not staff, just people finding articles to post about. I just don't see the appeal of gamegrep tags.

People simply find information for the Wikis and can get a tag if they work hard enough.
So assuming you work hard enough on GameGrep than a little recognition can't hurt.
