Scheduled to be released sometime in 2010, a Splinter Cell movie is in the works.

quote
"The structure is solid and all the fans of the game won't be disappointed. The script plays out just like the game with Fisher going on one mission to the next making key discoveries along the way. We get to see Fisher's keen sense of stealth, agility and strength."

The heart of the story reportedly involves the relationship between widowed Third Echelon operative Sam Fisher and his daughter Sarah, who is apparently placed in grave danger.

What do you guys think? Is this a right move or should they just stick to the games and books?

George Clooney better be Sam.

I swear, part of me says that the guys from Ubi based Fisher off of Clooney!

Yeah but I'm not sure if Clooney has the build to play the part.

This movie was announced a long time ago, thats really all we've heard of it though, unfortunately.

And OMFG, George Clooney is actually Sam Fisher as an actor!
Holy *bleep*ing *bleep*!
Unfortunately Sam Fisher looks nothing the same in Conviction as he did in the previous Splinter Cells...

Meh, I've noticed all the variations of Sam from all the games still have similar jaw lines.

This was a good movie y woodnt it be there are a lot of movies made about Tom Clancy stuff like the Hunt for Red October this wood be a good movie and George Clooney wood be a crapy actor he resembles sam but it woodnt work and people woodnt wanna see George Clooney I think the guy from Transporter wood be better cuz he has the right bulid for it and he looks like sam the voice isnt the same but that isnt important cuz he is a great actor!

The guy from the Transporter has a British accent.
But you can make that argument that any actor could play him because they are "good" enough. TBH, I'd like them to steer away from big actors and go for some fresh, undiscovered meat so they don't force a highly paid actor that looks nothing like Sam.

Nah, it was just that a film works bought out the rights to produce it but then some bigger company (bare with me as I don't know the names) bought out the film works and it's being sought out. I'm not sure on the current status of the film but it's not looking good.

So...Sarah is still alive in this movie? I tried buying this movie thinking it was allready out. They talk about it in a game made in '05, so why delay production intill 2010?

Best source you can have is intel. Know where the enemy is and you have a clear idea of where you are status wide.

Production issues and copywrites are really the main problems behind this. And I guess Sarah is in the movie unless they make some huge changes in the storyline. I've heard from people on the IMDB boards that they are going with a whole new storyline, with a new splinter cell, which means no Fisher. It sounds outrageous but I guess anything could happen at this point.
