I think the console version is releasing around the same time as SCIV.

Tekken 6 is looking great imo.

I had doubts at the begining of it's development, but it's looking sharp. I'm confident it will be the best Tekken yet.

But I must control my antic, else I may succumb to dissapointment. ._o

Hey, Ray, why don't you have a link to the Tekken 6 forum when you like Tekken 6 better than Soul Calibur IV?

I thought this should be discusses ;

I really don't like the new stages. I like that they're bigger and all, but it's not very Soul Calibur~ish anymore. They're just normal and random boring stages like the ones in Tekken 6; specially in 00:45.

I am not digging the Star Wars characters either. I'll just wait for all of them to be revealed (stages as well), and then see if I really like it .

Oh and it will be out summer 2008. I thought it'd be at the end of 2008 like December or something, but it's sooner which means it's cheaper.

I am loving Taki and the graphics. I need moar SCIV Taki pictuarz .

Because I'm already happy with the Tekken 6 competition in North America.

The graphics are incredible as always.

Ivy's new move looked awesome.

You have to remember that the guest characters are just guests and aren't "real" to the story of Soul Calibur. They are just there for gameplay purposes.

While Kratos would have been so much better, I'm sure they'll be fun to play with as long as they aren't unbalanced.

I wanted Kratos though... ;_;

That's a new move? That seem way too strong.

And seriously, it seems like the others are gone. If this is gone be like SCL with like 10 characters or something, I am gone forget it.

It's really sad that sc3 was f'n awesome and when you look forward to this, it's just confusing and weird

I bet that new move of Ivy's is one of her finishing moves (moves that can only be used when the new gauge is filled up). Not entirely sure how those will work, but hopefully they aren't too cheap/unbalanced.

Gameplay footage

Kotaku Hands On Impressions

quote
Graphics aside, how does it play? Like a Soul Calibur should. The developer has decided, wisely, not to fix a game that's not broken.

As with many fighting game sequels, Soulcalibur IV is not only prettier, it's faster than its predecessor. Moves are lightning quick in the build we played, but the game's speed, not obscenely fast, may still be in the tweaking stages. The game's director asked us, after a lengthy gameplay session, how we felt about Soulcalibur IV's speed implying that it was up for discussion.......
IGN Impressions

quote
Company reps said that Soulcalibur IV has been "completely recreated for both the PS3 and Xbox 360," and introduces several innovations. Obviously, high-definition graphics, but also a "completely new battle system," an expanded customization mode in which gamers can personalize their character and change the way they interact, as well as what they do, but also take these fully-tailored creations online. And finally, an all-new storyline that will reveal some big secrets that will "blow your mind." ........

Because of how sukish those guys played, it was annoying to watch that gameplay. It wasn't that good, but I guess it's because it's not finished.

I hope they add new moves and change Taki's face by that time. Hah, if that's Ivy's finishing move, I wonder what Taki's finishing move is. I'd be really boring to do the same finishing move over and over again, so I hope they've done something clever about that.

The game is nowhere near finished, apparently.

Those players weren't doing very well at all, though, I must agree.

I'm curious about the new gauge. Will these new powerful moves be one-hit kills? And how is the gauge filled up.

I think it should be filled up through Soul-charging and successful guard impacts. It would make it a more high-risk-high-reward thing, instead of the usual "filled through attacks and damage" of most fighters.

No Kratos

oh well I'm alright with Star Wars

a 2nd costume for Vader could be Anakin just like in
SC2 Nightmare's 3rd costume was Siegfried

EDIT: oh and that move Ivy did I believe that might be the new way to
defeat your opponent (you know beat someone without ring out or KO)

Do you mean something like as soon as their health is zero they don't die until you do the finisher, 'cause that would be kind of cool.

Like a move that takes some time to perform and if hit it kills off the opponent

Yeah, but it may get boring if it's just like..one finish move for all of them. Then you'd be doing it over and over again. Like I said, I hope they've figured and created something clever about it.

I really don't mind the original way of killing.

That's why I think they should make it difficult (through alot of soulcharging + guard impacts) to increase the gauge. People too focused on trying to get that killer move will end up making mistakes.

And isn't one-hit killing them KOing them, anyway?

Not very inventive, but then again, it shouldn't be the main focus of the gameplay.

Are you enjoying Las Vegas? LOL

It seems like they've improved suckish characters. And it seems like everyone is equal now. Hope not.

Oh I think Siegfrieds finishing move is that move where he attacks Tira. I may be wrong though. It could be just a scene. I REALLY want to see more character retuning. All of them makes Soul Calibur fun.

I like the idea of ringing out someone through a wall. Sounds good.

Btw, not that this has anything to do with this, but I thought you guys may know. I found this image of Nightmare from the Soul Calibur movie;

Also about it;

quote
Here's the apparent teaser poster for the Soul Calibur movie, which I found posted at Fighter's Generation. It doesn't say or show much, but if we were to infer anything from it, we may be in for a treat. Perhaps the film adaptation of Namco's Other big fighting franchise will be a tad darker than the games; the poster kinda evokes a Frank Frazetta/Death Dealer feelÂ… or perhaps a bit of Todd McFarlane's Spawn (which may or may not be a bad thing).

There hasn't been much info on this except that the production is being handled by the company Second Degree Media, and they have a website for the movie here . It's pretty safe to say Nightmare will probably be in there, I think. And Siegfried, probably. The plot is, obviously, built around Soul Edge, in this movie a shape-shifting weapon that every would-be ruler of the land craves and covets. This may easily turn into a car crash, or it could be pretty awesome. 2008 then.

It looks bad like most video games movies, but I am seeing this no matter what! That is, if it ever comes out. >_>

Silent hill was ok. Soul Calibur maybe a little to high to reach with actors that don't know shit about the characters they play.

Oh Yoda is in SC4 for real? He's a cool guy and got advantage on Maxi that reaches Ivy's boobs in height, he's just... A couple inches down My!!!

But was the vid serious?
