I can't swing from ring to ring using the grapple. When I release the first ring from the grapple and throw for the second ring it automatically reattaches to the first one.
Am I missing something?

Did you shoot down the large circular stone first? If so, try building up the swing farther. Let out more line if necessary.
The jump button releases the grapple, then use the grapple button to attach to the next grapple point.
