Just wondered how important the cables are when setting up your systems? I've got a TV that will go up to 1080i and I'll be getting a PS3 and a Surround Sound system in about a month so I'll be needing HDMI and Optical cables to get it all linked up and running.

What I want to know is how much is it worth spending on the cables? As they seem to vary hugely in price I'm not sure how much difference there is likely to be between a cheaper and a more expensive cable. I'm not a hardcore videophile or anything, I just want something that will get me ready to run, and at a good quality. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks

Honestly, I recommend using Amazon.com for buying your cables. I got a 6 ft. DVI cable there for 8 bucks and it works perfectly.

Thanks, I've had a look at Amazon and these are the cables I was looking at: Belkin Optical and Linx HDMI, they are both reasonably priced and seem to have good reviews so I'll probably go for them.

Belkin makes some great products and while I don't know much about Linx it seems that the user reviews are favorable, so those are both probably good buys.
