Okay so we all heard the news that in the future the Call of Duty title will be dropped and we'll be left with Modern Warfare and World at War running a two different franchises, hand in hand.
So I was wondering when do we think this game will lose it's popularity? When Modern Warfare 2 comes out will this game die? Or will it's fans remain loyal?
I'm not entirely sure if a World at War 2 is confirmed? If so when is it due for release?
I'm starting to invest a lot of time into this game and I'd like to feel that it'll always have an online community, but we know eventually this game will lose it's popularity.
So I put it to you; when will this game die?
- -When Modern Warfare 2 is released?, When World at War 2 is released? Just eventually through time? Or will this game become an everlasting multiplayer platform?

This game has a while to live. Call of Duty 4 is going to suffer more when Modern Warfare 2 is released. People could be playing 4, but they're playing World at War. More WaW players will remain loyal to their game in the end.

Definately. Modern Warfare 2 is pwnin COD 5 + 4 atm, so there will be no 4+5 players left. Its quite sad really.

I presuming that the two games will be released staggered one every other year ?
Anyway, I won't see them as different games, and I can't see why the game will suffer. As it stands I'm buying Modern Warfare, and I plan to buy every other WaW and MW after that. As already said, CoD 4 will suffer, as the reason the majority of people still play that is because they don't like the WW2 theme. But now that MW2 is just round the corner...

I personally believe that MW2 will initially steal the players from both CoD4 and 5, however CoD4 will be affected the most.
I think that after a while people will begin to favour MW2 or WaW1, leaving MW1 in a pile of disused and forgotten games.
Any release of WaW2 will definately decrease the popularity of WaW1. Unless number 2 is dreadfully useless.
I say Cod5 has at least 9 months left of good, decent fanbase.

of course MW1 will tank by November the 11th. IW should just dump the data from the COD4 servers and just add them to COD6' server bank. speed up connections and make the mass of fans happier.

When MW2 comes out, it will be the only COD/MW game worth playing.

Wait. What is all this talk of World at War 2. We've already had six World War II games, why add another one just basing it as a sequel to a game that lacked any decent structure?

I think this game will live a few months after MW2 comes out but I am going to bet anything that every WaW player will switch to MW2 and play that more.
