Yeah, you can't make the maps much larger without including vehicles. Otherwise, it would just get ridiculous, and considering they only added TWO more players per map (5v5), keeping the maps around the same size would be their best bet. Otherwise, it could get very tedious looking for people.
What interests me is tracking your opponents by their blood trail. I wonder if that works for multiplayer as well as campaign? Sounds awesome.

Dammit, still no news as to whether Maria is a multiplayer character.

Man, I could only imagine Mcbain if a female character was added. His humping would go to a whole new level.
I'm hoping for some female characters in multiplayer as well though. Would just add a bit of diversity. Me and Manna used to play this online game where the female characters had the advantage of being slightly faster, and they could do that with Gears.

This conversation is interesting. Gamers always want more but when they are given more they get really doubtful.
I remember in Gears 1 people were saying things like we need more weapons, how cool would it be if you could destroy cover and blow up your environment and things like that.
As features get announced, gamers are starting to criticize and judge their effect on the game. People are commenting that the new Gorgon Burst is going to get abused and the destructible cover is going to ruin things.
It's like this. We don't know how to make games but we talk like we do, we ask for things and when we get them we give them back like an unwanted gift. We complain about a game needing more and wen it is delivered we say that the original was the best and pure and should have been left as it was.
Also, I remember Bungie saying that they revealed so much because they could not keep a lid on everything and Frankie said something along the lines of "Would you rather hear from us that there is a flame grenade or find out from some poorly shot cell-phone video on youtube? When it comes to revealing stuff, we want to do it, not some kid on thei myspace".
This is kind of our fault because we poke, peek and prod to get every piece of info. If we didn't look at magazine scans and leaked videos, perhaps developers could keep things as a surprise. So here it is again, we say we want things kept secret but we try so hard to find out every detail and when we do find out every detail we complain there is nothing kept secret! I'm confused.
I don't think gamers really know what they want. I'm happy to sit back and let epic design this game. After all, they are the developer and I am the consumer, I think that line gets really blurry on message boards.

*bleep* that.
I want Gears 2 to have bug fixes, minor tweaks, new campaign and 3-4 new maps. That would keep me satisfied.
Wouldn't happen though.

Everything they're talking about adding sounds absolutely incredible. I can't wait to play it. Will certain features get abused? Sure, that's the nature of online gaming, but will it be a blast when you actually get players who play it the way it was intended? Of course.
Also, I call permanent dibs on Maria if she's a playable character guiez. D:

Then prepare to get the shit *bleep*ed out of you nonstop, Mike.
And Milk; I see what you're saying, but a lot of the times, the gamers criticizing such changes are being rather pre emptive in their distate, and are really taking a pesimistic viewpoint on the matter. To me, Epic has done a good job of not divulging too much info. They give us news of this new weapon and this new map, along with that new feature, but they haven't bombarded us with gameplay vids and in-depth analysis into the campaign.
Epic definitely aimed to bring more DEPTH to the fighting while still keeping Gears' simplistic nature, and thus far, I'm highly impressed.

Maria would look badass in a female suit of armor. that thought reminds me a bit of the scene from Iornman.

I definitely think Destructible cover is a good thing. It adds another level of depth, that being you gotta keep moving, and choose what you duck behind wisely, while still keeping the same game play style. Gears campaign was all about the cover. Now you must think about when that cover is going to dis-appear.
Then of course, what Dyne mentioned, about tracking someone by their blood trail...oh man..that would be awesome.

The first thing I am doing once I get a Job..IF a get one...is to get a Wireless network adapter for the 360, and a Router for the Computer up here and get LIVE.

Stuff that. Let's just hook up obscenely long network cables to each other. That way we don't need to worry about lag and bad internet connections.

WLAN- 10-100 megabits per second
LAN- 1 Gigabit per second
You do the math
thats all to the router of course, once you hit the internet it moves much slower.

Jaybo, you're forgetting that the 1 gig per second LAN connections is a recent thing. And it has to do more with the type of cable. There is one out that has a obscene Data transfer rate ability, while others are total shit. lol.

You guys
do know that cover in multiplayer isn't fully destructible, right?
