Lucky Pannest, I was thinking of posting this too.
quote"Everything you see here will improve dramatically in the final game. We're always improving."
That's what God of War III producer Stig Asmussen told us today of the game, during a behind-closed-doors demo. It's hard to believe -- the demo played at Sony's E3 press conference and free to play on the floor looks more than incredible. It's not an understatement to come out and say that it may be one of the best-looking third-person action games ever, if not the best-looking game on the PlayStation 3.
But comparing it to the demo of the same section of gameplay we saw earlier in the year, he's definitely not just blowing smoke. The game had already improved dramatically, with some of the most obvious examples the game's lighting. But Asmussen points out the new blood effects, with splatters covering Krato, become covered in blood as he tears down enemies. Or another little touch just put in for the E3 demo, a group of rats scattering into darkness as Kratos shines the light from the eyes of the severed head of Helios upon them.
With my mind already blown by what I'm seeing, I can't imagine where my jaw will land when it ships next March. We hope to get some hands on time with God of War III (about 20 minutes worth of gameplay) here at E3.
I've been saying this for a long time, since the VGA trailer and epic scale. The graphics will improve alot before the game releases. It's not farfetched for me to state with the release in march 2010 that the game could graphically end up better than Uncharted and that's pretty incredible to imagine since uncharted is one of the most graphically amazing games to come out for the PS3. And Uncharted 2 isn't looking to disappoint either in that department. All the graphics complaints for a game back in january probably 20% done wasn't warranted. I'd say progress which really advanced could be 50% right now. They're focusing alot on gameplay/combat which is the primary focus for God of War and always has been. Graphics will be where they should at the final product and I have no doubt God of War 3 will be one of if not the best PS3 exclusives of all time.

In the Helios gameplay footage, you can already tell how far the graphics have come since the early vids we got a while back. The lighting and character models are just so much better.
I have no doubt that God of War 3 will end up being one of the best looking (if not the best) games of this generation.

If there is a game that will beat MGS4 and Uncharted's graphics this gen, it's this game. A game with both amazing graphics and amazing gameplay, you don't see that often. 2010 is going to rock. =D

God of War focuses alot more on combat first. Even Stig Asmussen mentioned "Anyone can make pretty/great graphics. But we want to focus on the combat aspect more than graphics". This was before the premiere of Video Game Awards trailer.

I just watched the E3 demo in HD, and the blades and undead animations look really good. Kratos' and the chimera's models, as well as some of the environments could use some polish.

They have recently stated in an IGN article that the game right now is still in the alpha development phase. While they are polishing some things to make fans excited for the release they aren't focusing on the visuals at all yet. The fact it looks as good as it does now is testament to how good this game will look come release.

I thought Kratos' character model was almost perfect. The amount of detail he has now is amazing.

Link please?
Cause from places I heard the game is actually very far into development. Maybe not the graphics per se, but if the game is releasing March 2010, there's no way the game is in Alpha development.

I agree, but the transition between his animations is a little "sharp", imo. I don't know how to explain it, but if you've played inFamous, you'll see how Cole's animations are so smooth and seamless- when you suddenly turn around while running, you can see him actually shifting his centre of gravity, just like a real human.
This guy does a great job of explaining the animations.

Still months away from the game releasing. So I don't doubt they'll fix that issue z.

Drake's Uncharted has the best graphics out of all PS3 games. God of War III might beat it but it will be tough.

Personally it's not all about the graphics. I know God of War 3 will look fantastic, and we all know the combat system is already fantastic. With Kratos sporting 20,000 Polygons he's already incredible detailed. I just want the game to be epic gameplay wise.
And with Naughty Dog helping SMS with the development(giving them their dev kit/tools) I'm very confident the graphics will be awesome alongside everything else.
