Which will you be first? And what will the differences be?

I assume as an officer your Lord will by troops for you and train you if he wants. Hopefully you can defect and other cool things too!
But what about Vagrants? I assume you just run around and fight who you want? And do you think you can get troops as a Vagrant?

u cannot complete the game as a vagrant, u must find a lord to serve...but good luck, the empire mode, that is the only mode to play, is utterly boring to me...

Yeah, I found out a Vagrant is just an unemployed officer. I think the game comes out tomorrow for me. Now I must buy it because there is no point in avoiding it.
You have made it clear you hate it. Now I must use it to personally make or break Koei in my eyes.

I would personally start out as an Officer.
Trying to take over land as a Ruler is pretty tough in the beginning.
As an Officer, you'll have various chances to seize power / invade and become a Ruler once you're powerful enough.

The three roles kind of merge together.

And what would you negatively say against this game RCG? You don't sound nearly as angry as Cypher.

Uhm, my major beefs were stated in the review, like really wishing KOEI would invest in online play.

Overall a decent game, even if you disliked the character changes in 6, because now you can just create your own character to avoid using the remade premade officers. I noted there is a lot of repetition, but you have the option to skip Battles, though Assignments (when they come up) are required for progression (Officers). Battles / Mercenary jobs are a good way of earning money toward the beginning, and you can farm the easier Mercenary battles until you are satisfied with what you have. At that point, when I bought all I wanted, I would skip them sometimes, then go back and play some others at my leisure.

Obviously as a Ruler, you have to keep invading or you're not doing anything.

Like I said, repetitive game, but it's Dynasty Warriors, so I wasn't expecting FRESH NEW combat and all that. You kind of run that risk when you pick it up, knowing that it's going to be a lot of the same.

It's actually a very relaxing game though, compared to all the other stuff I have been reviewing / playing lately. I think in DW5 Empires, you also couldn't carry your character data over to a new campaign. But the Clear Points I felt were sufficient if you wanted the same weapon and horses, which are both pretty cheap. If you wanted to start a NEW weapon type, then just pick up a few ingredients with your points! Not a big deal, they are easy to come by. There's an option to start the next game with more money, but if you can carry over horses and weapons or ingredients, why bother? Money is ALSO easily earned, especially as an Officer.

This isn't a perfect game, probably won't win any awards or anything. But I think overall it's a fun experience, something you can go back to at your own leisure. It's tough to start out during a new campaign without ANYTHING to help you, but that's to be expected. I have no huge complaints, and I am still playing the game after the review was published.

in all fairness, i am playin as a ruler now and its not as bad, but still, i see a lotta flaws, like the lack of an anexxation (that where when u invade the capital and defeat the ruler u get all their land), now u have to take it piece by piece...can get annoying...

Ha ha Cypher you seem so calm compared to your other comments.
So if you execute the leader does someone else take over?

Oh, and you could carry over data in DW5E, but since the enemy levelled up so fast it made little difference.

oh, didnt anyone tell u yet? theres no executions in this...yea, suddenly they consider capital punishment wrong in ancient china now...-_-, the only up side is u can recruit the captured (nothin new) or ransom them, and some r worth decent coin..1000 gold or better for a decent lvled person...

Well, at least you can ransom instead of just saying "Well we don't want to hire him, so.... lets just release him!"

RCG - I'm starting to understand the no online complaint. People could use their CaWs, and if someone quits, they just fade out of existence. Also, I think Empires would be a great game for teamwork. You could make a lot of friends and vagrants could travel together.

until some kind of giant powerful server was set up, online battles would likely be restricted to single battles, as an online empire mode would require either the players stay on till the game is won or lost, or tons of data, ie: progress of all forces, which officers are on which force, weapon data and all such things to be saved, also so, what if all the persons involved arnt online again for a long time? u cant play with out all the ppl, like how would it be handled if ur land got attacked while ur not online to defend it?? koei probably gets a headache just thinking of an online empire mode, lol

Because you wouldn't be a ruler. You'd be a CaW.
I was thinking you could have the game done in a day, but I see what you mean.

Lunchbox is on topic! *high five*

I prefer to be an officer till level 10 atleast cause even on easy, when your brand new and a vagrant and try to overthrow you will likely die in the first 2 minutes.
