A huge improvement over your last one I think (halo wars).
Your getting better. I'm not really digging the border though, not really sure why, but overall its nice. I like how the text melds with the texture perfectly. That font is perfect for this piece (where as in the halo wars one, its like the odd man out)
Theres my 2 cents on it.

I love the Halo Wars and Crysis pieces. Got great texture and flow. This is such great work for someone who claims 'not to be too experienced' with GIMP. I can't really pick out things wrong with either piece.

Whatever effects you put on the covenant dude in the halo wars one looks great, but the background is kinda poor quality.
Try saving the ones you aren't going to use yourself (ie: just display) as .png (if I remember correctly that can be done in gimp no prob)
Either way, keep 'em comin

I find this one to be your best piece:
The whole piece has that smooth feeling, topped with a nice gradient that complements the stock image. Text needs to be blended in (smaller and put it on overlay/grain merge) and it could do without the scanlines, though.
Most of your other works need touchups here and there. The border on that latest Crysis banner looks horrible. The stock in the Halo Wars banner need to be sharpened a bit, while the background needs to be smoothened out and color-balanced.

Agreed. Not bad for a GIMP beginner. I like your Spiderman one as well. You just need more practice/ Your Crysis one is good too, but it's a bit rough in the background, and the border needs some work. Text isn't half-bad either.
