Because it's fugly! and anyway, it can breed, wait, it can't. Oh well, I might as well be the first person to release a shiny, well knowing that it is a shiny and the game isn't screwing up...

I have a question. Running around in the grass is better than breeding when you're hoping to get a shiny, right? I always hear peole saying how they breed and get shinies, but maybe I'm mistaking it for something else. Which way is easier? The only shiny I have is Skarmory. -.-

NEVER EVER RELEASE A SHINY! Keep it for bragging rights!
I have only had two shinies in my career:
One was in Pokemon Gold/Silver, where i got the usual Gyarados...that was RED.
Then (also in gold and silver) i encountered and captured a shiny mareep.
No shinies on GBA whatsoever...

one day my freind gave me a shiny bulbasaur he thought it was glitched
and now i had all 3 starters the naxt day i evolved my squirtle and a purple wortorle another shiney
the next day i evolved my charmeleon and a black charizard popped out i instintly fainted

whateva i cannot regonise shiny starters exept bulbasaur unless i look closley anyways they were shineys from the beginning
oh and do shinys in crystal have like spraling stars around them

Earlier someone mentioned that holding L+R increased chance of obtaining shinys, someone else said hold B. Are either of these true and would they only work on pokemon you "talk" to. Also would shinys still appear if you used an encounter code.
