So I've been playing my old Crystal version as of late, out of nostalgia. Last week, lo and behold, the Magby egg hatched to reveal...a shiny Magby! My first real shiny pokémon, huzzah! I wouldn't have known except for the sparkles; it looks like a normal Magby. Then, yesterday, I was training it in Ilex Forest, when I headbutted a tree, and a level 10 Noctowl fell out! It's not shiny, but I know Hoothoot doesn't evolve till what? Level 20? It's like Falkner's level 9 Pidgeotto. I took a picture of the Noctowl, too, so if I can get it from the camera to my computer, I'll try and upload it.

If I remember correctly, then there was an egg in that game that had a 50% chance of being a shiny, and it either hatched into a Magby, Smoochum, or Elekid. I'm assuming that that was the egg. Hurray for you!

There is a 1 in 8192 chance of a pokemon being a shiny. Even If you breed two shiny parents together.

I caught a shiny unown in Crystal. Blue Unown!!! And of course the red Gyarados(I can never spell it right) in GSC. PS. The Black Soldier, I got a Pichu out of that particular egg BTW

i used the missingno glitch on leaf green and found a normal lvl 136 magikarp and it grew to lvl 100??? and then it evolved into a golden gyarados
