Is this game really fun to play, even if you just go around and hunt animals?

It depends. If you hunt in real life (like i do), you will find this game fun.

I didn't like it. I basically rented it because I thought the damage effects would be accurate, like you could shoot an animal in the leg, or blow his brains out by shooting him in the head. All the animal does is go down, or it says animal injured, but I couldn't see any damage effects.
I had it rented for 3 days, and only played it for around 3hrs the first night, didn't touch it again.
The advancing your hunting career, and keeping track of your kills is almost cool. Alot of the challenges are alot alike though, you'll be sent out to hunt 2 wolves one time, and then a few missions later its three wolves and a goat. I got bored of it quickly.
Rent it if you must. I would definetly not buy it, unless you are made of money and collect games or something. I'm even dissapointed I rented it, although for $6 I shouldn't really complain.

Do you actually hunt JT? if you did, you would find this game a lot more fun. Also, about the whole 'Blowing the animal's brains out' the game producers couldn't put that in because it would be 'cruelty to animals'.

My dad use to go hunting, not that much though. I went with him once or twice to give him company. No I don't hunt or have a license though. I don't think it would be cruelty to animals, it would be more realistic, having more blood, animal twitching etc.
Its what I was hyped for when I saw it at the video place, oh boy I guess blowing something away will be fun, but the damage effects weren't that great. I had to spend around $600 on my car, so I was really looking to virtually blow something away that day.
I wish the game would've had birds too, we went grouse hunting a couple of times, besides for whatever else. That would've made it more a shooting game like Duckhunt, if they would've also had birds.
I had the game set to easy while playing it, maybe the animal AI would've been better on the higher levels, didn't try it.
I also didn't see any vehicles, I guess you get those later on?
The animals just disapear too, when you claim your trophy. For me I think it would've been funner to drag it out, or atleast have that as an option.
I can appreciate all the hunting items, tree stands etc, and I only bought around the second best scope in the game. Still the actual gameplay, I found kinda average.
There are mountain tops/hills you can't get over, what is it Cabella's Dangerous Hunt with an 80yr old man.?
Oh well those are all just my gripes. For a hunting game I thought it was average. Offcourse my opinion is just that, especially since I didn't put alot of time into it.
Atleast this game is cheap right? Still personally I wouldn't spend $29 Canadian on it. I see your point though if you are really into hunting or hunt more often you may enjoy this game more, a hunting affiando I guess the word is.

The game producers didn't put that in because it was supposed to be
Dangerous Hunts. I really don't know how you would consider bird hunting dangerous.
Also, about the vehicles, they were there. I can't remember which exact levels, but there were at least 4 levels with vehicles.

Did that last Deer Hunting one have birds? It would just be a wish of mine.
Why do they have a shotgun in the game, without birds? I thought a shotgun was used most times for birds? I can't imagine wanting to use a shotgun on anything else, care to enlighten me.

Just a thought.
They have Deer in Dangerous Hunt, those are also not the most dangerous things most times, or popularly believed to be dangerous. Don't they even have female deer without antlers you can hunt in it? I forget. Maybe because thats what the first game was based on, that they are in Dangerous Hunts, or its all about the Deer.
I'm just thinking of stuff that maybe would've let me enjoy the game more.
There are lakes and stuff in the game, so why not put a couple of ducks on them.

I guess they didn't have birds in it just because people don't consider them 'dangerous'. As for the does (female deer) they weren't in the game. Also, the shotgun can be used for deer (with slugs, basically like a bullet in a shotgun shell), turkeys, squirrels, and other birds (grouse, pheasant, quail)
