It doesn't really matter if you win or no because if you win Rusty will ruin everything. Hence, she will not go on a date with you even if you become the champion.

Do not make Zidane win the Hunt, you will only recieve 5,000 Gil. Vivi will get you the Theatre Ship Card, and Freya will get you a Coral Ring. Vivi's is good if you want to be The Collector in card ranks. Freya's is more useful in general.

Later in the game Zidane says to Garnet:" You still owe me a date" (or something like that)
But maybe that date would have ended when Garnet tries to hang Zidane by his tail

Freya is the best to win. The Coral Ring is a pretty good accessory early in the game.

Yes, seeing as just after the Festival of the Hunt, you will come to a place named "Gizamaluke's Grotto", above which is another place named "Popos Heights" where you can fight monsters named "Grand Dragon", who use Thundaga.

The date never happened ... can't remember them dating, which makes this the worse FF couple I have ever seen.
Even Tidus get a chance to smooch Yuna once before he goes pop.
