Government refuses to play ball with Blizzard
You know all those jokes about Chinese gold farmers and how World of Warcraft's 11.5 million players must be predominately Chinese? Here's a bit of irony and bad news then for all those legit WoW players in China who have been waiting for a region-specific version.
The Chinese government has rejected two applications made by The9, the Shanghai-based operator licensing WoW in that region. Both applications were refused approval because the content in Wrath of the Lich King failed to meet the government's requirements. Some material officials disapproved of were city raids and skeleton characters; an inside source suggested that even Death Knights were excluded from the submitted version.
Blizzard should just change all the offending characters to the Dalai Lama, because as everyone knows, he is the most treacherous, combative warlord ever, who is trying to destroy Tibet's peaceful and harmonious existence under the generous auspices of China. And perhaps change the skeletons to Falun Gong members -- who, of course, are trying to devour the soul of the Earth with black magic.
Oh, heard next on the ban list is mario cart because its to colourful and user friendly.
China should be all over that as it's common practice for them and will teach youngsters the way of the China.
