Mid-Missouri cybercops warn of pedophiles with Animal Crossing

Cop says "no reason" adults should own this game

Are you over the age of 18 and still enjoy innocent entertainment like Animal Crossing?  Better hide your Wii and DS, then.

ABC17 news has revived that fear of Nintendo consoles by calling the Wii a tool for predators.  More specifically, pedophiles can (apparently) use Animal Crossing: City Folk to reach your children.  At least, that's what the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force is saying.

Andy Anderson, a cop working with the Task Force, named Animal Crossing in a statement to the media, saying that any adult who possesses this game and similar titles is likely playing them for unsavory reasons. 

"There is no reason an adult should have this game," Anderson declared.  He also added there is no reason to be paranoid, but to be aware.

According to the news report, three Missouri children "have been contacted" by perverts so far.

    I feel sorry for all the professional game reviewers who were assigned this one then

    And everyone should be suspicious of anyone over 18 with a kids book, as well. In fact I think we should just make owning kids book illegal for people over 18.

    Adults can own whatever the **** they want! Im not one but still this is just stupid! I mean come on! This is the most peaceful game I have played in my life! And you need a Wi-Fi code to get into someone elses town anyway. So keep your code to yourself if you believe this ****. But if not, Thanks for being a person of freewill. And Cops say anything to get a good saying. This dude is giving this News One of the worst reviews it will ever get.

    I started playing the ealier versions of the game when I was younger. Pedos use all formats, people need to stop being artards.

    This is ridiculous. I'm in my late 20's and play Animal Crossing regularly because it's cute and relaxing. My understanding of it is that it's impossible to play with someone else unless they've got your code? So unless you're posting your code online as an open invitation, which is stupid, it's pretty unlikely that any perverts are coming to get you.

    Well I guess I fall into that category too! We got the we for christams, I am the mom and this is MY game! I guess my daughters will no have to be ashamed of me, huh? What a crock of S**T. Protection starts at home, know what your children are doing and this won't be a problem! All you adults, keep playing and protect your children by making sure they are not putting themselves at risk by giving out any information that would put them in harms way.
