One of EA's 2009 Need for Speed titles, Need for Speed SHIFT, has received official release dates.
“With Need for Speed SHIFT, we set out to create a racing game that pushes the genre and delivers something never before seen in a Need for Speed title,” said Patrick Soderlund, Senior Vice President at EA Games Europe. “By focusing on the driver’s experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing.”
A press release from Electronic Arts today announced that SHIFT would be arriving September 18 in the UK, while a separate announcement pegged September 17 as the official European launch date. North American gamers can expect this racer to hit their stores on September 22.
Apparently, the PC and PSP versions are due some time in "fall 2009."
Update: EA released a SHIFT trailer this afternoon featuring actual gameplay footage. Enjoy.
Shame, I can already play RaceDriver GRID with practically the same graphics, a fine-tuned gameplay, and a very interesting championship chart that goes through many real-life events. After being disappointed by Undercover (apart from the inexplicable lagging for a not so stunningly beautiful game in a good rig, as I dare call my rig, anyone has the same opinion as me, that there's too much blur effect in Undercover?) it seems to me that EA is just doing it again.
