That's 0.0.1 points from 1.0, for those not counting

VLC media player 0.9.9 released Image 1

Popular open-source media player VideoLAN (VLC) saw version 0.9.9 release last evening, meaning its nigh-on complete. VLC is typically known for its ability to natively play a long list of formats.

Note this is a bugfix release. As such, here are the notables:

  • fullscreen behaviour on Windows with multiple screens,
  • workaround bug with libxml2 >=2.7.3,
  • video performance on Intel-based Macs,
  • various decoders updates on Windows.

As a bonus, Real Video 3.0/4.0 support is now in the experimental stage courtesy of the FFmpeg decoder, and many fixes for the Real Media demuxer are incorporated. In short, Real Media support on all platforms is improved.

    Been waiting for this. VLC is amazing, and quite useful, and for that, it's on all my devices.

    I used to use VLC a lot (it was my main video player for a few years or so)....In the last year or so though, I've been using MPC. It had more compatability, I had issues with some vids playing in VLC (still do, when I accidentally load videos with it instead of MPC).

    Maybe this update would fix that, I dunno.
