Details and character art for Silent Hill remake
Silent Hill fans are no doubt missing Team Silent, but the original Silent Hill brigade's departure hasn't fased Konami at all. Eager to keep the franchise alive, they're adding a new Silent Hill remake to the existing family.
Cue Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, a remake of the PSX original for the Wii, PlayStation 2, and PSP. Announced for Fall 2009, Shattered Memories puts us back in Harry Mason's shoes as he searches for his daughter, Cheryl, in a town filled with homicidal abominations and bizarre puzzles.
Shattered Memories integrates the Wii Remote's unique capabilities into play, turning it into mason's flashlight and cell phone. It will also be used for other in-game functions, such as examining and using items, solving puzzles, so on and so forth. That's right, Silent Hill now has motion control! Another new feature is the game's "psyche profile," which allows players to monitor Mason's reactions to what he sees or who he meets. Visual elements have been added to further amplify the town's oppressive atmosphere.
Konami also released the frosty logo and official artwork depicting Harry Mason on his cell phone. I always pictured him wielding a rusty pipe or two-by-four instead of a mobile device, not to mention a bit less Asian.
