New areas to explore, new games...and cupcakes !
Has it been 4 years already? Apparently so. The popular no-subscription fee MMORPG Guild Wars is kicking of a 4th year anniversary party -- and yes, you are invited to join.
There will be cupcakes. "Sugary blue drink." And even "red bean cake" and booze.
And there will also be the Shing Jea Boardwalk (which is some place to gamble and play games, I believe), fourth year miniatures (I believe these a just neat little gifts), a new area called the Zaishen Menagerie (where you can train and buy pets -- video'd below), and upgrades to storage capacities and the Hall of Upgrades.
The celebrations kicked off today, but the actual culmination of the events is on the 28th, which is the actual anniversary day itself.
You can read more about the festivities here. Or if you feel so inclined you can play a free trial of the game here.
Guild Wars is also now selling a bunch of new sort of micro-transaction expansion packs. Going for $10 USD in the in-game store, you can buy the Pet Unlock Pack, Makeover Pack (to change your character's appearance), and a renaming ability for $15.
Heck I need to log in and check things out, I think GWs is an amazing game with great detail with graphics. They spent a good amount of time towards the solo player who would rather hire a henchmen or bring there hero's instead, makes for a great casual easy going game for any one.
4 years is a good run and I think there around 5 million players or a bit over that, GW2 is hot news and every one is waiting for that I think World of Warcraft will take a small customer loss hit when its released for a while anyway
I'm probably getting this game, since I'm a bit interested in MMOs, but loath monthly fees.
Isn't there a set of Guild war Games available in a large sized box? I plan to get that eventually, I think.
Yes, there is, and should be fairly cheap, too. Just don't expect much from the Massivily Multi-player-Online thing in Guild Wars... the community is pretty dead. But for an online single-player game it sure is worth playing... it's just finding friends to play with and a good guild to join is very hard in this game, at least it was for me.
Of all the MMOs I've played over the years, GW has to be my favorite. I used to be quite a dedicated player, though now I just login for fun to mess around. Glad 6 others million people agree with me~
I'm really looking forward to Guild Wars 2...

Now, if I could just win the lottery and be able to sit on my arse all day, every day....
Not that I would, I WOULD go outside....One needs to check and make sure the Terminators haven't taken over...
