Producer reveals upcoming movie will be a prequel
Producer Dan Lin talked about the upcoming Tomb Raider movie in an interview at the U.S. premiere of Terminator Salvation. We learn from a brief interview that the new movie will be a "reboot," featuring a younger Lara Croft. Goodbye, Angelina; hello, pedo-Lara.
"Yeah, we're rebooting Lara Croft as well. Really excited - it's a great origin story that we're going to tell. A very character-oriented I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies."
They haven't begun casting just yet, but this pretty much confirms we won't be seeing Angelina Jolie and her gorgeous lips. When asked whether Jolie would be appearing once again, Lin simply stated, "It is an origin story so it is a younger Lara Croft."
He also admitted that the Lara Croft franchise has become "a little too action-oriented" for his tastes and plans to add more character depth, like with Terminator.
Wait, what? Too much action in Tomb Raider? What has the world come to!
All they need for a successful movie is a good looking LC, a bunch of explosions, and a couple of fight scenes. I hope they don't get too hung up on this whole 'plot' nonsense.
I mean, the original concept for Laura Craft was probably thought up one game designer over ham sandwich and lunch time on a Tuesday. Her unusually large breasts is what lead to her being famous and so popular...it wasn't anything to do with much of a story.
That's what most men like to see, isn't it? Hee Hee!!!!!!
Anyway, as if the second film wasn't bad enough, now they're trying to create a crappy prequel. Ugh, wake me when it's cancelled.
It's reminding me that I still need to find Tomb Raider Anniversary for PC.
Aside from that, the idea of a prequel doesn't really interest me. Some things don't mix well with character and depth........
Don't take it so seriously, visitor. THM and all his other identities are simply... a source of mixed entertainment. And often unpredictable.
