Bohemia Interactive, creators of the ArmA games and other "realistic" military shooters, and U.S. publisher Got Game Entertainment are pleased to announce today's North American release of ArmA II to PC.
The game has shipped to retailers across North America and will be going for a suggested price of $49.99 USD.
"It's very exciting to add such a strong title to Bohemia's line of successful ArmA games," said Marek Spanel, Bohemia's CEO. "The North American audience has been anticipating this game and we are confident they will find it worth the wait."
ArmA II offers realistic combat simulation in a modern day setting, as Bohemia Interactive describes. The game offers freedom of movement, actions and tactics, detailed weapons and military hardware, and an easy-to-use built-in mission editor for its hardcore online community.
"Bohemia's developement expertise and strength in realistic military games ensures that ArmA II translates into a captivating ultra realistic military gameplay experience," said Got Game Entertainment President Howard Horowitz. "We're excited to bring this game to the North American market and are proud to offer such a high-quality title to gamers all over the country."
Interestingly enough, a significant portion of the ArmA community has been voicing concerns about ArmA II being rushed into production.
I watched their developer diary video a couple of days ago and thought it was pretty interesting (I thought it was particularly cool that you can do log-rolls while lying on the ground) and the camera actually rolls pretty convincingly). Some people seem put off by the idea that a realistic sim shooter would have crosshairs.

Hi Redemption
Cross hairs are a setting. You can turn cross hairs on or off in difficulty settings for Single Player and have them turned off for everyone in Multi Player if you want.

i used to have a ps3, sold it and bought a pc specifically for this game. This game is very complex and pc owners already having a hard time running this game on high end video carda, GTX285, 295 and 4870x2. This game would need a big scale down version to run smoothly on consoles without the need to play with different versions of video card drivers never mind the settings in the configuration file. It is going to be a though one to port to the console systems especially ps3.
I hated the first one, but I played the demo for the second one and it felt much more polished. I run it on high for the most part with a HD4870 and it seems pretty smooth. Not to mention the sounds effects on this game are a huge improvement over the first one.
Only PC?

I'll pick this up eventually
