Star Wars: The Old Republic could be BioWare's biggest RPG thus far

Lead writer: "It's larger than every role-playing game BioWare has ever made put together."

BioWare has released their third documentary video for Star Wars: The Old Republic, showing off all the work they've put into the game's character interaction and voice-overs.  The title of this latest video is appropriately titled "The Voice of The Old Republic."

In the mini-documentary, the Old Republic team suggests this could be BioWare's biggest RPG yet, given that every character -- NPC or playable -- is fully voiced for more interactive depth.  Professional voice directors join the crew and work with top actors around the world who are lending their voice talents to the project.

I am so looking forward to this game since I am familiar with playing SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) back in 2003/04 and how SOE totally killed that game in less then 2 months so many people were fed-up with Sony they just up and left so even though this isn't SWG it is how ever related to SWG and related to Kotor 1 & 2 which makes it even better.

I will give World of Warcraft up if this game is all it is that i hear about, besides I have put 4.5 years into WoW so time for something new to come along.

    What's Haiti?

    Is it a cartoon?

    OR

Is it a country "occupying the western third of the island of Hispaniola in the northern Caribbean?"

No doubt it's going to be a great game. I'm just going to have to get used to the... cartoony makeover.

I must be the only one who's absolutely pissed that BioWare is making this instead of a true KotOR 3.

    *spoiler alert*
The only thing that I'm kinda irked about is the fact that this one has nothing to do with Revan and the Exile. I hope that this game at least fills in how Revan and the Exile stalls the Sith in unknown space (although, I'm sure it can be pieced together with a little imagination- Star Forge, plus Exile's infinite Force energy, plus Revan's strategy = tough fight). I mean, this game takes place about 100 years after Revan and the Exile went to combat them, so they should get some kind of credit for giving the Republic a fighting chance (A 300 moment, if you will). Without them, the Sith onslaught would have swept through Republic space without the resistance of any Jedi. This shows that Revan and the Exile gave the Jedi Order enough time to revitalize. Not to mention that this could not have been achieved without Bastila, who was left behind by Revan, and the force sensitives, who were left behind by the Exile, who both undoubtedly revived the Jedi Order (Who else could have done it after Kreia kills the remaining Jedi who gathered at Dantooine? Even if you were evil, they die anyway- by your hand). It's probably not going to be well-known throughout the galaxy about Revan and the Exile's resistance, but the Sith should definitely bring it up. However, it should be well-known to the Jedi that the Order was reborn though the determination of Bastila, Atton, Mira, Disciple (maybe even Handmaiden), and Bao Dur. After what they did, they should be revered Jedi masters.

Graphics are terrible. Interface is WoW. KOTOR 1 and 2 were my FAV RPGs.

I am NOT buying this game.

Yeah... I have my doubts about this title, too; it might not reach the glory of Kotor 1 and 2. I also don't like the graphics much, or the WoW interface... I kinda liked the old one. However, I'm willing to give it a shot because I'm a huge huge Kotor fan, but I'm sure everyone can tell that from my paragraph.

    @ bruceleethree

this isn't an RPG its an MMORPG it's gonna give you a different experience than that of a game based heavily on story

    Raiden,

This video just said they're focusing heavily on STORY. what was your point exactly?

How is a multiplayer RPG different than a singleplayer RPG? Did Diablo II change your experience when you logged onto Battle.net?

MMORPG = Play a story with real people in the same world.

"MMORPG = Play a story with real people in the same world"
That's how it should be; however, sadly, that is not always the case...

WoW comes to mind >.> Ha! What story? It's just a series of unrelated quests... which is almost every MMORPG.

With that in mind, without paying attention to the video, it is understandable why RaidenXS came to the conclusion that The Old Republic, being an MMORPG, would not focus on story.

Their whole pitch so far, OMega, has been that they're changing the landscape and making it pure story.

Why would I bother saying that if I didn't already understand that the main focus was story?

The only real problem i have is the main characters voice acting.

IT'S TERRIBLE. Just terrible. I hope it's like the sims and you get to choose different voices.
