Digital download port of PSP RPG confirmed, but only retail releases will include bonus soundtrack
Atlus hopes to realize Sony Computer Entertainment's goal of delivering PSPgo downloads day-and-date with new retail UMD games by confirming a PlayStation Network port of their upcoming PSP RPG, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona. First announced as a UMD release complete with a bonus 2-disc soundtrack set, the publisher will also make the game available for direct download from the PlayStation Store.
The latter option will be most attractive for prospective PSPgo owners, who will not be able to play UMD games on the revised handheld thanks to its lack of a UMD drive. SMT: Persona's pricing will remain $39.99 USD as a digital download once the game officially launches this September 22nd, though the PSN port of the game will lack the bonus soundtrack bundled with the UMD retail releases. That's one option which will keep the boxed release of the game an attractive choice for collectors, despite being able to get the game that much faster as a download.
