Head on over to Takistan and the Green Sea to see what war is up to
ARMA II was somewhat of a surprise: even though it has a definitively hardcore game, and on the PC, it perhaps went against some people's expectations and sold quite well -- even better then The Sims 3 upon release. In fact, it sold so well that Bohemia Interactive has already announced a new stand-alone expansion.
The expansion is called Operation Arrowhead. You'll be swappin' 7.62mm AP rounds with some angry dudes in Pakistan -- err, I mean Takistan. By the Green Sea.

If you are not familiar with the game, ARMA II is a quintessential PC game -- it is complex, not controller friendly and requires a powerful gaming rig to run. It is a military simulator FPS, and a pretty far stretch from something like Call of Duty. You can control vehicles, have access to all sorts of different weapons, and you can work your way up from a fresh recruit to a special service operative guy. The Czezh-based Bohemia Interactive Studio strive to fully model many of the features of a modern day battlefield.
ARMA II Operation Arrowhead will be presented in Cologne Germany's Gamescom expo, happening the 19th to 23rd of this month. Though no release day has been pegged for this expansion, you can imagine that it wouldn't be too far off if they have already been working on it for a while, and are demoing it.
"Bohemia Interactive is fully committed to supporting the existing ARMA II user base whilst also working on the expansion pack, this will not only allow us to introduce a new and original theater of war to the simulation series, but also improve numerous areas of the core game, for both the original game and the expansion, where we can go even further with adding completely new features" said Marek Spanel, Bohemia's CEO, in a press release.
Watch out for grenades.
