Dreamscape puzzle platformer on its way from Secret of Monkey Island team

Continuing with the recent trend of engaging independent titles like The Path, Braid, TRINE and more, LucasArts brings us Lucidity, a puzzle platformer based around lucid dreaming, from the team behind The Secret of Monkey Island.

Starring a young girl named Sofi with a keen sense of universe exploration, you'll go deeper and deeper into her dreams, solving puzzles based on quick reaction and the placement of randomly generated puzzle pieces, keeping your journey in motion and delivering Sofi to safety. Judging from the lovely screenshots here,  you'll pick up some useful items along the way, too, including spring shoes and a slingshot.

Lucidity comes from our effort at LucasArts to form several small internal development teams and give them the creative freedom to make games that surprise, amaze and inspire,” said LucasArts President Darrell Rodriguez. “The re-imagining of The Secret of Monkey Island and the development of the all-new Lucidity are just the beginning of this effort.”

The art style is particularly captivating, reminiscient of works like James and the Giant Peach, just for one example; we imagine with a soundtrack to rival any of the game's mentioned above, Lucidity will be a real keeper.

The game launches October 7 on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC (likely via Steam only); check out the LucasArts Workshop for more.
