Highest rated NFS game in years, making EA very happy
Toward the end of 2008, after that mind-blowing of game releases, Need for Speed Undercover had successfully pissed off gaming critics and the community alike. Why? Because it sucked that much, according to NFS fans.
So when EA announced in January they would be releasing three more Need for Speed games in 2009, most people were either laughing or shaking their heads.
However, Electronic Arts is clearly having the last laugh. Released just this Tuesday, Need for Speed SHIFT proves to be the highest rated NFS game in years, taking home an average of 87 out of 100 from numerous game magazines -- including Official Xbox Magazine and PlayStation: The Official Magazine -- and websites.
"SHIFT marks a stunning comeback for the Need for Speed franchise," said Senior VP of Marketing Jeff Karp, speaking on behalf of EA. "I don’t remember when the game has ever looked better. The double-digit improvement in critics’ scores reflects the game’s tremendous innovation and places Need for Speed as the best racing game of 2009."
Need for Speed SHIFT is currently available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, PSP and... iPhone.
