Brad Wardell stands up for Fox

[Updated] Stardock CEO boycotts UPS for opposing Fox News Image 1

Stardock CEO Brad Wardell is an outspoken conservative in the gaming industry and has recently declared a boycott against UPS.  What exactly did UPS do to warrant this?

Recently, the global delivery service became one of at least 33 companies to withdraw advertising from Fox News, in response to some remarks Glenn Beck made about President Obama being a racist "with a deep-seeded hatred for white people."  Wardell then posted on his Facebook that he would be moving his company's business over to FedEx, as a protest against UPS' decision.

According to Wardell, Stardock does "a non-trivial amount of shipping with UPS," and generally speaking, people should stand up for their beliefs.  That being said, we're pretty sure UPS won't be losing much sleep over the loss, and it's unlikely they'll be changing their position unless other companies start pulling their business.

Update: Seems Wardell was quoted out of context by many sources.  An email was sent out to clarify the issue:

My Facebook comment was taken considerably out of context. I could care less about Glenn Beck or whether someone advertises on their show or not. But UPS is boycotting the entire channel which annoyed me enough to ask my publishing director to look into whether it was true (it was) and have them look into Fed Ex which provided competitive pricing and make use of them for our uses.

Too true, Kevin. I'm not the first one to stand up and defend any president, but here's something to ponder: let's say Glenn Beck is right and Obama does hate white people. Do we have any right to say that's wrong? Considering what African Americans have gone through for the past 500 years, why wouldn't they be right in being angry? I'm not saying that reparations are in order (because I honestly believe they are more in order for the aboriginal people of America, who got a much worse deal), but just the apology in 2008 shows that it isn't enough.

However, Glenn Beck is a fear-mongering ass who is just in it for the money. And Fox News? I think they should legally have to put the news part of their name in quotes.

People have the right to acknowledge the wrongs that have been done in the past towards black people. But in this day and age, there is no excuse at all to hate any race. (Especially after all that's been done in an attempt to abolish racism..)
