An oldschool ARPG you don't want to miss out on
Haven't heard of Big Blue Bubble's Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain? You're not alone -- the game hasn't received too much attention from the press or gamers since it's announcement this past July. So allow us to refresh you.
The game is an action RPG on the DS in a similar style to those of many in the 80s and 90s like Ultima Underworld, Arx Fatalis, Elder Scrolls, etc., which is to say it has a first person perspective, gritty and loveable graphics, and all the RPG standards we've come to expect. Adding to the goodness is the premise: Fighting Fantasy is based on the classic book series by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson, favourites of fantasy readers the world over.
Until now we haven't really gotten much of a feel for the game beyond details and a couple of screenshots, which are rarely very helpful in the DS department. So we're happy to show off a couple of gameplay trailers for the game today which should get you excited if this is your thing.
Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain launches October 26 -- keep an eye out.
