SC in 1920x1080? Oh yes

Way back in July, a high resolution patch was released for Blizzard's Diablo II, bringing the game up to speed with the latest monitors (on a related note, the team is still working on the official patch 1.13 patch with the same feature, but Battle.net compatible). As the community would have it, the same type of thing was released a few weeks prior for StarCraft, although probably for arbitrary reasons, hasn't received much attention until now.
So for all of our SC fans that haven't jumped on this yet, head over to FileFront to grab the patch, edit the ResSettings.ini file to your taste (the ScreenWidth/Height values), then run the InsectLoader.exe file. Note many common resolutions for monitors work, however one user's testing saw the 1920x1200 resolution result in crashing, so it appears 1920x1080 and below are a-okay, but anything higher is pushing it.
Also note you may run into an error message; if so, go to the directory where StarCraft.exe is found, create a file called scfix.vbs, and paste this text into it:
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
set svc=GetObject("winmgmts:root\default:StdRegProv")
Wscript.Quit(svc.setStringValue(&H80000002, "SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\Starcraft", "Program", WshShell.currentDirectory & "\Starcraft.exe"))
Then double-click it. After this you should be good to go.
Note as with the Diablo patch, it isn't advised to play online with this (even if it works, it seems you risk being banned temporarily and eventually permanently). This will be a major drawback for most, no doubt, but if only for curiosity's sake, we recommend giving the patch a shot at least once.
